Re: Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBone] - out September 17 2020

You say you are not but you are pretty much blaming the developers for enabling crunch. By saying it is on them to quit or rise up and say no you are putting all the impetus on them and excusing management for poor project management and exploitation. It's an extreme example but are people working ...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBone] - out September 17 2020

I'm sure that there are plenty who drive themselves into the ground during constant crunch purely out of passion for the project they are working on. It must be quite the dream to work on something so ambitious and interesting. But then for every staff member who is super motivated in that way, I'm...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBone] - out September 17 2020

I think I might wait and have it as a Christmas present. That way it's a present actually worth having and I'll have a couple of weeks to get stuck into it. There really is no excuse for long-term crunch in the top-dollar game studios these days. The estimated budget for Cyberpunk is around $150m -...

Re: New PC Upgrade 2020 into 2021

Thanks for the opinions. I guess I'll gird my loins at some point and spec a system. Right now feels like a bad time to do it though.

Re: New PC Upgrade 2020 into 2021

I'm going to lob a grenade into this thread to get some opinions. I'm very much coming to the point where I'm going to need to upgrade - my current setup is from 2011 and was decent then but not earth shattering with some upgrades over the years (newer gpu, additonal bugger SSD and a replacement PSU...

Re: Solasta: Crown of the Magister

I’m running it on a 2070 so I can’t say with any certainty how it would run on an old machine, but it uses the Unity engine which is generally pretty good on older hardware. It’s certainly not a looker, without being outright ugly. I’ve seen some people saying the UI is bland - I find it nicely fun...

Re: Solasta: Crown of the Magister

This looks rather interesting. It does look a tad rough in the trailers - how does it come accross in the EA release? Performant enough for older systems?

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Products where measurements are important and the unit of measurement is not specified. I'm looking at some art prints and several shops list things like 20x16, which gives no clue as to whether that's centimetres or inches. ](*,) Maybe I should offer to pay 20, and not specify that I meant Iranian...

Re: Phoenix Point - new tactical strategy from original XCOM devs

I think I've hit a bit of a wall with this, and doubtful I'll finish the campaign. Everything has just become a bit too attritional - not in terms of soldier deaths (I've only lost a couple) - but resources. After each tactical mission it costs a certain amount of tech and resources to restock all ...

Re: The run off areas, it's an interesting contradiction between bike and car racing - the gravel is needed to slow bikes down to prevent serious injuries and the opposite is the case for cars as they can no longer steer/brake once they're in there. Cataluyna was modied with the removal of certain s...

Cleaning my fucking teeth, I'm 6' 4'' - it's something to do with being half bent - it's causes my back to ping out and then take a few days to a week to get over it

Re: Happy birthday to Snowy!

Happy belated Birthday Snowy, I'm 3 years behind you on this one.

It was my other half's 40th last year and we did a long tour in the far east that ran through mid March to early April and we have oftne remarked how lucky we were it was last year.

Re: The Covid-19 Thread

Easier to control the supermarket stuff though to make it safe. We wipe all our shopping down with Dettol wipes when we get in. Can't really do that with food someone has handled in a kitchen which you eat immediately in a pub or restaurant. Do you do that with fresh produce also or are you avoidin...

Re: The Covid-19 Thread

I've nothing against people who do head to pubs and restaurants - that's their choice. I guess I just don't want a pint or a meal out enough to warrant the risk. The measures in place I've seen from various photos and descriptions from friends appear to be a mixed bag, but even at the places that a...
