It seems like most of the people in the same age group as me (thirties) that had the Astrazeneca injection around the same time all had pretty bad side effects. I posted above that mine were mild, but they did get worse the next day and I had to take the day off. Still, compared to some mine were pretty mild; I had the same all-body ache I usually get when I have the flu, but didn't get the usually-following fever.

I had stomach cramps in the evening after the injection, but no ill-effects other than that barring the sore arm. I had the AstraZeneca jab.

So it turned out when I rang up and searched my NHS number, because of me heart condition I had when I was a child (that I feel has no impact on my everyday life) I was considered both at risk and at the front of the queue (ish) for the vaccine and had 'already missed one appointment/call to arms'.

Anyway, went out to the Nightingale to have my vaccine on Wednesday. Had too much coffee and no food before I went which resulted in me thinking that for the first time in my life I would faint before an injection. Didn't in the end. They had people at the 'corner's of the queue chatting with patients which really helped. Very efficient operation tbh, quite impressed and the people they had at various points would allay people's fears.

Queue was probably 30 mins but after that, less than ten mins. Back home and back to work within two hours (inc. travel).

The aftermath, for me, was absolutely horrendous. I don't want to over-egg it but it's probably the worst flu-like symptoms I've had as an adult. I was up all night in three duvets shivering then changed beds at 5am, spread'eagled naked under an open window. All the while aching everywhere. Feverish imagination/hallucination. Genuinely awful.

So after a completely sleepless night I did the unthinkable and called in sick, spent the day resting. Next day, almost completely fine. They say the second one is worse - I'm positive it can't be.
Which one did you have? The second Pfizer one is supposedly worse, but for Astrazeneca it's the opposite, first is worst, second easier.
That’s some consolation then - I had AZ.

For what its worth I had the Pfizer and the second was no worse than the first for me. Sore arm for a few days nothing really beyond that. I actually found the flu jab worse last year. Its different for everyone of course.

Hope you're all feeling better soon.

I can smell things, but some things don't smell and therefor taste like they used to. Strong smells, like coffee for example, still smell weird and kind of beefy. Not unlike bisto gravy. Its very odd, but it is something I think is improving, albeit very slowly.

Yeah sorry, I do appreciate that me whinging about a day long illness is tedious considering some of the alternatives. I keep thinking about losing the sense of smell/taste and it does seem awful - albeit I do like the idea of caffeinated Bovril...

Caffeinated Bovril.

I cant believe it doesn't already exist as it sounds like a million dollar idea to me. A real hearty, beefy, rich coffee, hotter than the sun and thick enough that you have chew it. Exactly what the worlds been missing if you ask me.

I mean you could just stick a shot of espresso in some strong Bovril, I can't see it affecting the flavour all that much.

Beef and coffee works great together, I have used a coffee rub on a brisket I smoked and it was delicious. Get patenting!

Bistoffe? Bit misleading perhaps.

I lean towards Biffto.

Second jab done and dusted. Let's see if I'm still lucky with after-effects. [-o<
