Another World was a solid song but it failed to stir as much excitement for me as this one.
Yep same for me

Danish band Iotunn have released their debut and it is all kinds of awesome, AOTY contender for me and it's only March...

That Iotunn album still getting spun so much I may wear it out, but has been joined by the new Borknagar album which is similarly fucking brilliant:

This new album is going to be great.

It really is. I can't decide whether to hold off listening so as to have some tracks left to enjoy, the three they have released so far have all been mighty though.

I'm not overly sold on the vocal style but the music itself is great. The opening minute is ball tingling.

Sadly, I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others as the lyrics during the anthemic chorus just felt quite lame for Gojira. The music was decent and I can definitely listen to it, but it just didn't grab me as much as the other songs.

I also listened to their latest track, The Chant, the other day and didn't enjoy it at all. I'm still looking forward to hearing the rest of the album, but my enthusiasm is now a little more muted.

The album has dropped and I think The Chant works a lot better when you listen to the little intro track first. It's still my least favourite on the album, one of those ones I'll probably only listen to if I'm spinning the whole album rather than picking tracks in isolation.

There's quite a lot of anthemic parts to the album, they fit in remarkably well with the groovy riffs. I'm enjoying the more melodic direction they've been heading in lately. I think Into The Storm will sound massive if they play it live, but then I always love big singalong moments.

I'm listening now and I've just passed Amazonia.

I watched some of the video that they released for The Chant and after, initially, thinking that maybe I was too harsh on it after my first listen it just starts to wear on me as it goes on. Not for me, I guess. I'm approaching the rest of the album with more optimism though!

Another World works really well within the context of the album, which I thought it would tbh.

Got to say The Chant has grown on me quite a lot after repeated listens, starting to really like the vibe. This album is turning out to be an absolute banger.

Yeah I wasn't sold initially, wondered if they had maybe drip fed the best few songs in advance, but several listens in now and I reckon the album is awesome.

Not metal in a musical sense but I had to put it here because that's the angriest voice I've heard in a while.

As a die hard Maiden fan, this pleases me greatly.

Yup, pretty good. I will always love Maiden, even though I have not really enjoyed much of their studio output since Seventh Son (their peak imo).

This one's a real throwback to classic Maiden. Gonna be a very varied album by the sound of it.
