I loathe having to do OS upgrades. Invariably it ends up causing all sorts of issues with older software or plugins I use. And for what? Rounded edges, a few minor changes to the options menus and a news/weather/sports mobile style widget page which I won't use. It looks like the biggest updates are with regards to improving the experience for touch screen and tablet users, clearly driving towards getting more tablet producers using Windows.

Such an unnecessary faff.

It's all too Apple for my liking. Flat app design does nothing to me. I prefer the live tile look. At least my PC does not look my phone!

Get ready for it because Windows 11 is likely going to be pushed hard. MS have already announced that Windows 10 support will end in October 2025, which is much closer than I expected it to be. On the plus side, that probably means they'll offer a free upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 to encourage as many people as possible to migrate ASAP.

it kind of feels like a backstep. It does nothing to move the OS forward

10 is the XP of this era so 11 is Vista.

As long as it doesn't turn into a subscription service I'm good.

Why the fuck have they moved the start/Windows button from the lower-left where you literally can't miss it, to floating in the middle of the fucking bar? That's dumb.

Their server collapsed

What an EMBRASSEMENT !!

So fucking typical Microsoft

edit - so after 10 minutes of buffering, it finally worked (you should have read the comments in chat - they were laughing their asses off). Overall not very impressive. I will stick to Win10 until I have to upgrade.

Get prepared for the inevitable annoying pop ups requesting you upgrade every hour.
