Re: Druidstone - new tactical RPG from makers of Legend of Grimrock

I'd take the difficulty of the game with a pinch of salt as it is Mr JW. I don't like the idea of abilities that can only be used a few times per level though. How are you supposed to know when and where you can use them the first time you play the level? I'm not really interested in having to play ...

Re: The elephant in the room - Brexit

I expect her to cling on as well but that could mean we are actually closer to a no-confidence vote in the government and an election. If the Brexit-rebels can't remove May through a leadership contest they may see bringing the government down as a way to get rid of her. If the government is brought...

You don't fix a problem with racism by punishing the group that is the target of said racism.

Conservative Leadership contest has been triggered, vote is at 6pm this evening. Let the bun fight begin!

Re: Epic Games launch their Steam competitor

Interesting take on the Epic store. http://gamasutra.com/blogs/DavidGalindo/20181210/332517/The_Epic_Store_In_Its_Current_State_is_Not_Good_for_Anyone.php I do think people have been too quick to praise Epic purely because the idea of a competitor to Steam seems like a good idea. It does ignore the ...

Re: The elephant in the room - Brexit

Yesterday was just another in a long line of awful decisions made by May. Hey disregard for anything other than her own job was laid bare when she took the decision to postpone the vote. This now leaves less time for the Commons to come together around a sensible alternative, whatever that may be, a...

SIGIL

Romero has announced a freeware update to the original 1993 version of Doom. It's called SIGIL and adds nine single-player and nine deathmatch levels and is out in February. Romero claims it picks up where the fourth episode left off.

The Gamers Arms Games of the Year 2018 Edition

OK folks, here we go. Just as last year, I have created a form with various categories for you to fill out. Don't feel like you need to put something in ever category. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSckBAIUoQlOVr1Vj8k7MJRiQVTx8xvyuNZEfZFSdcl0vTz_vA/viewform I think a deadline of the 31st o...

Re: The elephant in the room - Brexit

Looks like May is pulling the vote, various news agencies reporting that. She doesn't even have the courage of her own convictions to go through with the vote on a deal she said was the only deal and the best deal.

Re: Epic Games launch their Steam competitor

Didn't take long for the Epic game store to fall on it's face. This is the refund policy. https://twitter.com/LewieP/status/1071404821708713989 Putting the onus on the consumer to submit all that stuff is clearly a way of discouraging refunds. Additionally they should know how this works now, especi...

Re: Currently Playing

Ashen Had my eye on this since it was announced a few years ago and managed to put a good few hours into it over the weekend thanks to Game Pass. It wears it's Dark Souls influence very much on it's sleeve, the opening cinematic is almost a carbon copy of that from Dark Souls. Mechanically it has t...

Did anyone end up picking this up? Retail sales are down 60% in the UK on JC3. Another series that Square are going to have to give a rest?

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - December 7th

Looks like sales have been pretty stellar. Biggest ever Smash launch and biggest ever Switch launch in the UK. Particularly impressive if you consider that most titles have been on a downward trend this year at retail.

Re: Epic Games launch their Steam competitor

I think it's more that Ashen for instance had been announced as a Steam and Xbox Play Anywhere title and then suddenly it's Epic's store only. I can see how that can be frustrating for people.
