Re: Switch & Nintendo News/Discussion

I read somewhere that he used to head up a big part of EA, hopefully this doesn't mean we'll be seeing Nintendo change their business ethics to fall in line with western publishers. Unlikely as Nintendo is still run from Japan. NOA is mostly marketing and distribution stuff like that, same with NOE.

Re: Anthem [PC, PS4, XBone] - February 22nd 2019

Bioware were done after Mass Effect 2. Are we at the stage where they have made more mediocre games than good ones? Cant be far off it, if they're not there already. I don't think we are there yet. They developed 10 games up to and including Mass Effect 2 and I think you can take Mass Effect 3 as a...

Re: The Independent Group

Using the word centrist to describe this collection of MPs is a joke as their views sit firmly on the right. They embody the status quo, pro-cuts, anti tax increases for the rich, anti re-nationalisation, so I fail to see how they are supposed to attract the public's attention. If they really are ce...

Re: Far Cry New Dawn [PC, PS4, XBone] - February 15th

Deep is probably the wrong word as that implies a level of enjoyment that isn't there. It still has a lot of issues and I continue to be baffled by some of the design decisions. I'm just trying to get to level 30 to see what the end game is like. The combat is fun enough and seeing the numbers go up...

If I wasn't deep into Anthem right now I'd be tempted.

Re: Apex Legends [PC, PS4, XBone] - Respawn's F2P BR

Congrats.

Shooting is anything but trash, it's pretty similar to Titanfall 2 which has great shooting. People are bullet sponges to a degree but the game is going for a slightly longer time to kill and I think that's OK. Not every BR has to have you melt under fire.

Re: Anthem [PC, PS4, XBone] - February 22nd 2019

I've played a good few hours of this over the weekend and the biggest take away is that this game is a bit of a mess. They have clearly gone big on the narrative to try and differentiate Anthem from other games in the genre but the problem is that it's just so generic. The main plot is your usual st...

I'm not sure context matters that much when you come out with bile like that.

I've said my peace now, going to move on.

Hollow Knight was pretty but the addition of colour really makes this game pop.

Re: Modern gaming business practices

Some of the stuff he said at the time was pretty terrible and therefore I think it is OK to be a bit sceptical. This stuff wasn't just causal sexism it was horrid stuff. Just for reference these are the types of things I'm talking about, these are from 2011. Just ask your husband for permission befo...

Re: Modern gaming business practices

He went on a lot about SJWs in his time at the Escapist and had pretty bad views on women. The fascist look isn't offensive in of itself it's just in poor taste and when he came up with it I think he still had his dodgy views. I believe it was meant as a joke towards the SJWs he would often rail aga...

Re: Modern gaming business practices

He was very much a slimeball but has changed his tune in recent years, whether it is a true conversion or just to stay out of controversy is hard to tell. I find it harder to trust him when he keeps the far right look, even if it is done 'for laughs'.
