Re: Game of Thrones S8 (Here be spoilers)

The finale: Ignoring all the things that were left unresolved or casually brushed aside, and without probing too far at the problems beneath the glossy sheen... it was reasonable. It was played very safe. Again, ignoring everything else, it does make a strange sense for Bran to be king given that he...

Re: Druidstone - new tactical RPG from makers of Legend of Grimrock - out May 15

I’m a fair few hours in and also thoroughly enjoying it. Easy seems about right for a first playthrough, but normal difficulty seems attainable as I frequently find myself realising how I could have done things better a few turns ago.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

Cheers, was holding onto that twist for a few weeks! ;)

This week it's going to be Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday for me. Any takers?

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

Apologies for the audio issues last night - not sure what was going on, but I'll try to ensure it's sorted for next time. Anyway, the recap: The Unmentionables continued their mingling amongst the Neverwinter nobility by talking to Lady Tanye, the Master of the People - the representative of the cit...

Re: Druidstone - new tactical RPG from makers of Legend of Grimrock - out May 15

Just started playing - it's excellent. It's instantly clicked. As much as I love XCOM 2 and other similar games, I have to say the lack of any random/percentage factors is refreshing. The result is that it feels more like chess, in the sense that you're making informed tactical choices rather than p...

Re: End of thrones prediction sweepstakes!

1. Tyrion will lose his rag with Dany and get immolated. 2. Jon will be sat on the Iron Throne, waiting for Dany. She’ll burst in on Drogon and melt the throne with Jon on it, but Jon survives and kills Drogon. 3. Bran won’t have any profound moment and his story will either be ignored or just fizz...

It’s great how it went because you can think up any old bullshit and it’s already better than what we watched!
This.

At work the other day we were trying to come up with the worst way they could possibly end it, but our ideas will be nothing compared to what we actually get.

What a tool. I would never begrudge someone for enjoying or appreciating something, but this guy is blaming the people making valid criticisms because they don't accept the dire quality they've been given.

Re: Game of Thrones S8 (Here be spoilers)

https://www.change.org/p/hbo-remake-game-of-thrones-season-8-with-competent-writers Presumably pointless, but when over 750,000 people sign a petition to remake a season of TV because it's so bad, you'd hope the powers that be would take note that this sort of lazy abandonment of a beloved franchise...

Re: Game of Thrones S8 (Here be spoilers)

It was shit but I think Denny was the one thing they did right. From day one she’s been a petulant child with a god complex. This is the logical resolution. Handled piss poor sure but I never really thought it would go much different when she got to Westeros. The problem isn’t that she went mad, it...

Let’s postpone to Thursday because I too am completely done in tonight. Like you say, Sly, I’d really like a game this week too! :)

Re: Fantasy Football tournament 18/19 - now live!

Wait, I won?

Unbelievable! I mean... obviously my strategy of doing precisely nothing with my team took a lot of planning and consideration, and my comprehensive vacuum of football knowledge contributed to my success. I 'deserve' this. ¬_¬

Thanks for setting it up Sly!

Re: Game of Thrones S8 (Here be spoilers)

I also still enjoy it, but it’s bad now. Really bad. When a single episode can render entire character arcs pointless and create a megavillain in a blink with zero rationale, your show has gone to hell. The more I think about it, the more I’m convinced this was worse than the Long Night. Forget all ...
