Re: General Gaming News

Nah, they said they renamed it from Dreadwolf to put more of a focus on the heroes rather than the antagonist.

Re: General Gaming News

I got the impression that one of the reboots for the game came after Anthem didn't do well and there was a direction shift away from them doing live service games. I think Sly's right - they're trying to go down the Honour Among Thieves / Guardians of the Galaxy route of a light-hearted buddy advent...

Re: General Gaming News

I’ll wait for the gameplay trailer tomorrow before getting too worried, but this trailer is from the in-game engine. It’s… a tone change, certainly. The development of DA4 has obviously been a mess (they’ve admitted to restarting it from scratch I think twice now), but even the last-minute change of...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Regarding the opening scene: I didn't have a problem with it, even though it was a fairly obvious ploy. Obi-Wan was an exceptional Jedi and Anakin was the Chosen One, so I'd never expect them to fall for something like that, but look at Order 66 and how many Jedi (including masters) were taken down ...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

The Acolyte (episodes 1 and 2) Thoroughly enjoyed it so far! A fun revenge drama, some nice intrigue and exploration of a mostly untapped era of Star Wars that has strong KOTOR vibes (despite KOTOR being nearly 4000 years earlier). It's good to see the Jedi operating outside of a galactic war, just...

Re: Elden Ring

I've tried spellcasting in From games (including about half of Elden Ring) and I've decided it's not for me. I find it much more fun to be up close in visceral terror, rolling about all over the place. Admittedly my reluctance to use spells is not ideal for a faith build, in which I've mainly relied...

Just had a large spider stroll over the keyboard while I was typing. My chair shot back so fast that I almost hit the wall behind me.

Re: Elden Ring

I’ve also been prepping a DLC character. I’ve been playing a faith build, which has been decent right up until the late game where it now feels somewhat outclassed, so I may switch back to something more familiar like a quality build with dual katanas. Moonveil is such a fun sword to play with.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

I expect there will be a disappointing sentencing (i.e. no prison) followed by weeks or months of appeals, but at least it’s official now: he’s a convicted felon. And sadly it probably won’t make a jot of difference to his voter base. EDIT - Holy shit, I hadn’t realised that each of the 34 charges h...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Dazed and Confused I first watched this about 15 years ago and didn't rate it at all, but given how much people fawn over it, I thought I'd give it another chance. I still don't like it. I get that it's a 'slice of life' film and in that respect it's very successful and captures the time and settin...

Re: Currently Playing

I loved Severance back in the day, especially the Conan-inspired world design and music, and the fact that it let you dismember enemies and set things on fire. It was nails tough and clunky even back then, and when I tried the GOG version last year I found it almost unplayable. One that’s best left ...

Egbert's always been my favourite, not least because Mike's complete aloofness to the power Egbert wields translates perfectly into the character.

I know a few of us here watch the Oxventure, so I thought I'd share the new addition to the tat sitting above my monitor. Say hello to shield-surfing Egbert, bomb ready to go:
