Re: I Just Watched (Films)
Eddie the Eagle No surprises here, but there doesn’t need to be - it delivers thoroughly on being a feel-good, properly funny sports underdog film in a similar vein to Cool Runnings (incidentally, the Jamaican bobsled team competed at the same Winter Olympics as Eddie, in 1988). Great performances ...

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill the Rocksteady Legacy
From the look of it, the only fun to be had is playing bingo with game design don'ts. So far I've got overblown UI clutter, limp physics, brainless enemies, impactless weapons, constant wisecracks that aren't wise or especially cracky and an art style that's somehow both lurid and dull as dishwater....

As promised, here's a summary of the info dump from Yvalna's notes: Yvalna the Bright had grave concerns about Aldus’s decision to join the Nightwind Agency. She believes they are mere pawns in a much more sinister plot, which she has dedicated a lot of time to investigating through research and div...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
I've not used Jira, but until a couple of years ago we had our own in-house software for dev management which was about as bad as I can imagine it could be. Admin is the worst part of development and this thing made dev admin a constant battle to get anything done. We ditched it in favour of DevOps,...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
I've had something similar this last week which resulted in some weird fever dreams, including one where I got lost in a castle that had been converted into a gigantic pub, with firepoles to get between floors.

Re: General Film News
https://www.ign.com/articles/jon-favreau-to-direct-new-star-wars-movie-the-mandalorian-grogu My gut feeling is that this is Pedro Pascal's way of exiting Star Wars without committing to another season of The Manadalorian. I think it's for the best, if that's the case, as season 3 seemed more interes...

Re: General TV News
I tried reading it but didn’t get far, partly because I couldn’t keep track of all the Chinese names and therefore who was who. It’s a terrible excuse, but for some of the names I couldn’t even form a consistent internal pronunciation (doubtless completely wrong anyway). I’m hoping that hearing the ...

Re: Currently Playing
It's the only RPG I can recall playing where reaching a new level elicits a sigh rather than a little thrill of excitement. Yes, 100%! I tried my best to figure out what would be best for each character, but ultimately I ended up just picking whatever sounded plausibly useful, even though I'd littl...

Re: Currently Playing
Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader That was a fun (and exhausting) 80 hours, and I'm left with mixed feelings. First, I should say that I know basically nothing about Warhammer, so I went into the setting blind and wasn't quite prepared for the extent of how grimdark it is. I've spent much of my Christmas...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange
I’d love to know how many of the rioters filmed footage that landed them (and others) in prison. Also the comments nailed it by pointing out that they were fighting to elect a man whose government wrecked their lives, which they’re actively ranting about during the riot. Kudos to the security ...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)
Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning: Part One: So: Many: Colons The best and worst thing I can say about it is that it’s yet another Mission: Impossible film. I’ve a soft spot for them - the only great one is the first film, and each sequel is more forgettable than the last, but they’re all enterta...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
Nah, they wouldnt add it to stuff you paid for, that would be insane. I agree it would be insane, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Only a few weeks ago, films bought via the Playstation store were going to be removed from users' libraries until they did a last minute U-turn after massi...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
I can’t find confirmation anywhere if it applies to purchased content on Prime too. I’ve got a few TV shows and films on there, and if they think they can tarnish them with adverts then I’m going to go full Karen on them. EDIT - I've just queried it with Amazon and they say it will only apply to 'fr...
