Re: I Just Watched (Films)

True Romance 1993 classic, directed by Tony Scott, written by Quentin Tarantino. It's such a beautiful film; one of my absolute favourites. Everything about it is so good. Funnily enough, I watched it for the first time a couple of months ago. Thoroughly enjoyed it, just a damn good film all round.

Re: General Gaming News

Cyberpunk? Probably. Elden Ring runs fine on PS4 based on the few hours I tried it on one.

In other news:

Colour me intrigued.

Re: General Gaming News

Considering Cyberpunk looks great and runs at 40fps on Switch 2, that’s pretty atrocious performance. For all From Soft’s brilliance, they can’t handle game engines well at all.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

I think you're underestimating how easy it is to produce data to show basically whatever you want when you have access to all the data . We know the Republican party and its voters really don't like that the Epstein files haven't been released. I daresay there's a way to show Gabbard is against rele...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

You can't be investigated for corruption and treason if there's nobody to investigate you. True, but is an investigation even necessary if an ex-agent you've fired decides to send the dirtiest matieral they have on you to every major news outlet in the country? It's not like Tulsi Gabbard (or anyon...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c78mj2m85pno If you're in a government that has pissed off everybody except for their most deluded fanatics, how do you think firing half of a three-letter intelligence agency is going to play out? Do you think perhaps they may have the knowledge, the connections,...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I do like Gangs of New York, but it is a structural mess. The first half is a lot better than the second half, too. And some of the accents (Cameron Diaz) are laughable.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

More AI nonsense. I’ve filled a 5tb HD with DVD rips so for the time being I’m ripping to the system SSD in my streaming server - about 200GB of files so far. When I tried to add the new folder path to Jellyfin it said it couldn’t find it, and being new to Linux I went to Gemini for help. It had me ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Yeah, the only music I’ve used with Jellyfin is a handful of live concert DVDs and there’s no great category for them to pull the correct metadata, so if you’ve got a load of music then it’s not ideal for that. Where it excels is TV series, especially if you use the TVDB plugin for metadata.

I've loved using Mint so far. Not tried any games so far - not sure if SteamOS is the better option overall.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

It's completely mental from a security perspective. Even if Microsoft say they don't collect data that their AI uses, they probably do, and it opens the possiblity that somebody could. Combine that with an AI that is aware of everything on screen and you may as well say farewell to data privacy. Any...

What does "Ambient" mean in this context?
All-pervading, I suspect. Clippy has achieved apotheosis.

It's increasingly tempting to make a permanent switch to Linux.
