Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
Well... coming from a family of teachers I can say that the National Curriculum is often only as good as the person supposedly teaching it. My mum once had to correct another teacher who told her class that the moon gives off its own light.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
I’m worried about the total lack of practical online safety taught to children by both parents and schools I'd like to respond just to this part to say that my kids' schools have definitely taught lessons around online safety - don't share personal details online, don't post pictures of yourselves ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
Couldn’t agree more, Dave. The rate at which civil liberties in the UK are being eroded or given provisos is startling. Regardless of whether it’s driven mainly by a desire for more government control, a perceived need for public monitoring or a genuine desire to protect children, it’s being done fr...

Re: General Gaming News
Just found this on Curiosity's wikipedia article, which neatly rounds off the debacle: In March 2017, Molyneux stated that Godus was not profitable and Henderson would therefore not receive money. As of 14 December 2023, Godus is no longer available for purchase on PC, never having left early access...

Re: General Gaming News
I love this quote:

Poor Bryan."That's when they made us play Godus for three hours straight. It was our choice when to get up and stop playing, but I didn't want to seem rude."

Re: General Gaming News
Peter Molyneux's final game (according to him), Masters of Albion, is coming out in April: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=joy9aDGawTU It looks decent at first, until it turns into a zombie horde defence game. There's a lot going on, to the point where it seems a bit messy. It occurred to me that Mo...

I shouldn't be surprised that two episodes in, Kirk's Enterprise has already suffered a sexual harrassment situation.
They need one of those "x days since last incident" counters.

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series
I’m expecting it to be tricky and I’m going to try to not compare it to TNG (also a comfort series for me), but I’ve heard TOS has some truly great stories amidst the nonsense. If anything, it’ll be a history lesson.

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series
Just finished a rewatch of Better Call Saul , my second time watching it. I still don’t know if it’s better than Breaking Bad and frankly I don’t think it matters. They’re both superb. BCS is some of the best TV I’ve ever seen, with possibly the best acting I’ve ever seen when it comes to the princi...

Now that’s some proper opinioning!
I do kind of get what you’re saying about Goldfnger, but the less serious nature is why I love it. Dr No and From Russia with Love are great films, but the mild irreverence of Goldfinger is where it lands for me.

I’m not sure it’s possible to provide a stupider excuse than “we have to invade because otherwise someone else will invade.”

I didn't hate No Time to Die or Quantum, but they're bottom 5 for me.
Another one I don't rate that highly is The Spy Who Loved Me. Excellent intro, but otherwise I find it oddly boring aside from the submarine car.

I missed Dave's comment about it before I posted my thoughts on Die Another Day. I might have dialled it down slightly.

Re: The Room 102 thread - for things you love or just having a bloody good praise!
1) Goldfinger . Others do it bigger and sillier, but it’s purest Bond from start to finish. 2) Casino Royale 2006 . Near flawless and such a different Bond than what came before. 3) Thunderball . I think this one is often overlooked for reasons I don’t quite get, as it’s got just about every Bond tr...

Re: The Room 102 thread - for things you love or just having a bloody good praise!
Moore has always been my favourite Bond. I've always thought of Connery as my joint third favourite alongside Craig with Brosnan coming second. Sacrilege to most diehard fans of the series I imagine. If we're doing sacrilege... I think Tomorrow Never Dies is a great Bond film and is far superior to...
