Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

I'm going to have to work tonight so we'll have to postpone this week's game I'm afraid. Someone has royally ballsed up their data, and I'm having to comb through a load of data history to demonstrate this to them and prove that it's not anything we've done. ](*,)

Re: Random Overheard Conversation Snippets

On Bill Bailey's latest stand-up show he mentions how he overheard a couple walking down the street say "There's that puddle I was telling you about."

They were definitely the first-years at uni who decided to re-invent themselves with a 'unique' quirky personality, usually in the form of a hat or an annoying catchphrase which nobody picked up on.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

Since we didn't get the game tonight, this seems as good a time as any for this to happen. At dawn after your rest in the woods (before you arrived at Gauntlgrym), a small maw of flame appears in the air before you, and after a few seconds an envelope shoots out of it. The maw then shrinks and disap...

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

Here's an example of a roll20 map from a while back when the party incited the townsfolk of Phandalin to summarily hang their Townmaster:

Sorry to BARGE IN, guys, but are you doing some kind of communal audio-video meetup to play these sessions?
Barge away, or even better, join us! We use Discord for audio and roll20.net for maps and other game stuff. Seems to have worked quite well so far.

EDIT - Wot Sly said. ;)

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

I think we're looking at tomorrow now, but the good news is the audio's fixed! For some reason my wifi had booted me from 5G to 2G, which Discord seems to dislike.

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

I think I have fixed it - I'll hang around in discord for a bit in case Raid and Sly see this. :)

Re: The return of the D&D campaign: This time it's potatoes

Since Mantis has gone AWOL and my audio was cutting out for no clear reason, we'll try again tomorrow.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

On the subject of pedestrian crossings, drivers who see the lights changing and speed up to get through them. There are marginal cases where it's justified - e.g. if stopping at the lights would mean braking so hard that it's dangerous for the drivers behind - but generally there's little excuse. It...

Re: Cars

I used to get Transpennine Express trains to Leeds via Manchester, but the amount of times there was somebody with a carrier bag full of Special Brew mouthing off meant that I've stopped using them unless there's no other choice (that and the fact that they're usually rammed all hours of the day and...

Re: Cars

For me it doesn't make any financial sense - I'd be looking at something like £1500 to £2000 for me to run a modest car over a year for the amount I'd use it. To get trains for the equivalent journeys is about £500, and I can read a book or play some Switch while doing it. And to be fair, as dodgy a...

Re: Cars

I used to drive an old Fiesta, but I only used it once a month or so which meant it frequently needed jump-starting. I had a blow out on the motorway which was an intense experience (thankfully right by the entrance to a service station, which I rolled it into), and then not long after that it faile...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

I kind of want to create an Instagram account and upload every photo I take on my phone (about once a month) with zero curation, as a concerning glimpse into reality that influencers don't offer. The last year of sparse, confusing subject matter includes an all-day breakfast microwave meal (don't as...
