Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

The general gist of the quest was "deal with the giant", which... yeah... it's dealt with. Worth noting, though, that you took the job from Manfred Barrowfoot, who disapproved of Earl Corrin wanting you to just outright kill the giant on the basis that he had never shown any signs of violence ...

Re: Celebs are still dropping off....

From the little I know of him, he was instrumental in prolonging the Vietnam war (he sabotaged LBJ's peace talks by defecting to Nixon's election campaign and giving him intel on the talks) and was the brains behind carpet bombing Cambodia and North Vietnam. He also once said that if not for his acc...

Re: Starfield has a release date

They've already tried it once before. It went badly, to the surprise of nobody. I think there's enough apathy that it might get pushed through now and become normalised.

Re: General Film News

It’s definitely frequency for me, particularly with the TV shows. I enjoyed Loki season 1 and will probably enjoy season 2, but I’ve not remotely given thought yet to when I’m going to watch it. There are several other Marvel shows which I’m interested in that I doubt I’ll ever get round to at this ...

Re: How would you best articulate feeling and dealing with 'Gamer Guilt'?

I wouldn’t say I feel gaming guilt, but then being single and without kids means I’m not gaming at the possible expense of anyone else. If I’m gaming when I know there are things that need doing (e.g. household chores), it’s not so much guilt as the knowledge that those things will still need doing ...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

But then I have no issue whatsoever with non-linear storytelling, so there's nothing holding it back for me. It's not so much the non-linear storytelling that bothers me, it's that it's non-linear storytelling with scenes that are frequently only a few seconds long. It skips all over the timeline s...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I think critics absolutely overrated it (it's Nolan, so I shouldn't be surprised).

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Oppenheimer Not bad, but Nolan's chaotic, choppy style of skipping between scenes that are often less than 10 seconds long and take place years apart is, I'm convinced, total balls. It does my head in. I'd love to see a sequential cut, or at least one that jumps across time when there's a legitimat...

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

And the world elects yet another far-right lunatic. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-67470549 This one sounds like a real piece of work, based on his Wikipedia page: Milei strongly opposes abortion, even in cases of rape, and has suggested a referendum to reconsider the 2020 law (Volun...

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

I was about to reply that the problem with things like the nonsense about armed refugees in hotels on social media is that these stories are entirely invented with zero evidence and not subject to any scrutiny or standards, and then I realised I was describing the Daily Mail.
