Re: Currently Playing

I've just got to Cosmo Canyon, which I've not explored at all yet but looks phenomonal. Costa Del Sol, the Gold Saucer and Corel are all fantastic. Gongaga isn't bad but I have thoughts, which I'll hold off on for now, except to say I think it's the closest the game has come to a stumble so far.

I had to go and find the article to see what the fuss was about.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Ehh, I think if the goal of the article is to get a layman interested in particle physics, then dressing it up in a flowery analogy is probably not the worst idea they could have had. Anyone who isn't already aware of the concept of dark matter and dark energy is going to have zero interest in this...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

This unbelievably patronising article that reads like it was written by someone who believes in the mystical power of crystal skulls. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68631692 Some choice dribble: So what are these ghostly particles and why was a new approach needed to detect them? But...

Re: The Random Gaming Videos Thread

Yikes, the reviews I’ve read gave no mention of microtransactions whatsoever. Looking at metacritic, people aren’t happy.

Really not sure about picking this one up after FF7, not least because I didn’t get on with the first Dragon’s Dogma at all.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I still enjoy it, but I get what you’re saying. I think part of it is that comedy can age badly compared to other genres, especially if it’s something that you didn’t experience in its heyday. I tried watching The Producers last week, often hailed as one of the greatest comedy films of all time, and...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

I think the closest I've come to that level of assembly disaster was at the start of the pandemic where I decided to reorganise the second bedroom as proper office / entertainment room. It's a tiny room, but there wasn't room to do DIY anywhere else upstairs so I ended up putting together two 6ft bo...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

This week I decided to make some long-needed alterations to my sim rig. You'll note that post was from 2021, and I mentioned that I still needed to mount my racing pedals. Well, it's 2024 now, and I still haven't finished mounting my racing pedals. They've been attached, sure, but not in a particul...

Sisu

Decent action romp about a Finnish gold miner slaughtering Nazis at the end of WW2. It’s John Wick meets Rambo, with a dash of Fury Road thrown in. Very violent, very silly and nicely paced at a swift 91 minutes.

8/10

Re: Currently Playing

I really liked the first game, but Rebirth is leaps and bounds better in every way. There's such a great variety of things to do and it's (mostly) all fun. I'm disastrously bad at the piano minigame, but it's one where I can see possible improvement. Even playing badly is actually quite funny, espec...

Little tip, when you reach Under Junon and you get given a side quest involving a dog, do it.

Re: Currently Playing

Oh my god. I just spent the past 10 minutes looking to see where I can buy this new FF7 rebirth. It's only on PS5 at the mo :( So sad I held off initially thinking they might announce the PC version soon after the exclusivity embargo ends in May, but realistically I reckon it’ll be a year or more a...

Re: Currently Playing

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth I've dumped enough hours into this now to summarise my thoughts on it. So far I've just passed the 20 hour mark and I'm about to enter Junon, so it's been quite a lengthy play through scouting every single corner of the map and fully completing both open world areas I've had...

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

Yep, Cat Smith is good - active in parliament, engages with the community, no lunatic policies as far as I’m aware. I loathe Starmer, but I can justify voting Labour again (rather than another non-Tory party) because I’d actually be voting for Cat.
