Re: The Room 102 thread - for things you love or just having a bloody good praise!

The inexplicable speed of furniture removers. I've got a new sofa coming this afternoon and the old one's just been removed. I'd been concerned about how they were going to get it out as it weighs a tonne and is pretty huge, but within seconds of them entering the room they'd removed the back off it...

Re: General Gaming News

I don’t think I’ll miss it. The first game was fine at best; the second game was worse. It’s about time Obsidian rediscovered why they’re regarded as RPG experts as the last time I think they came close to that was with Pillars of Eternity 2, eight years ago. Not great.

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cddgv9nvj9zo Everything here is a total car crash. The former Duchess of York - who has faced her own Epstein controversies - is seen praising the late convicted sex offender as the "brother I have always wished for". Her daughters are also dragged into the scanda...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

Even if a fraction of it is true, the implications of what these people got to up are grotesque. But unless any of it can be verified, nothing will happen. And the FBI under Kash Patel wouldn't do anything even if it could be verified. In a normal world, this would be the long overdue moment when Tr...

Re: Currently Playing

Cairn An early GOTY contender. Eurogamer did a piece on this the other day which piqued my interest, and 14 hours later I ascended to the peak of Mount Kami. It's a phenomenal rock climbing adventure with survival aspects that (for once) aren't tiresome. The simple act of climbing is addictive - pl...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

The Brutalist Brutally slow. A dreary, ponderous, Oscar-bait slog that does nothing to earn its 3 hours and 21 minutes. It's a story about immigration that doesn't explore or portray anything new or interesting about the subject. There is one event that is utterly stupid and turns what would have b...

Isn't that technically an act of war against Ecuador? I've never been sure if that's an urban myth.

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

I do make a point of actually watching what I've chosen to watch, unless I've specifically decided to put something on I've seen before as some background noise while I do something else, which I don't see as a problem. It's phone-scrolling while watching something new that I don't understand. If yo...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

That's a large part of why Netflix buying Warner Bros worries me. Artistic vision and merit is being replaced with content that's designed to be disposable background noise. Even that term, content, should be a cause for concern, because movies are no longer works of art to be appreciated but conten...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Yeah, it's not bin day where I am but there was still a bunch of bins flying down the road earlier. Also had to go out in the storm first thing to try and find the latch to my back garden gate, which had been wrenched clean off the concrete fence post, leaving the gate swinging in the wind. Not fun.

The reviews are not encouraging:
The map is the size of Latvia but you only have 3 players so most of your time is spent running around the map looking for something to kill.

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

The NRA have had enough it seems. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cnvg812n01no I note that they typically have no complaints when there's a school shooting* or when ICE shoots someone who doesn't have a legally-owned gun on their person. (* Other than "Why didn't every child have their own gun t...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

US President Donald Trump has posted on social media, writing: "Minnesota is a Criminal COVER UP of the massive Financial Fraud that has gone on!" He hasn't provided any further context or evidence for this post. I know this is Trump and sense doesn't apply, but it sounds like he's saying citizens ...
