The books are fantastic mate, well worth your time.

Re: Currently Reading

Alan, the Dark Tower has some fantastic books and is well worth reading - thankfully I think you are finding that. There are some fairly large stumbling points within it, but there is enough gold to mine that you can forgive the occasional writing snafu. While I can recall the good and the bad eleme...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 [PS4, XBone] - PC in November

Not surprising, but hopefully an interesting stat for the publishers only releasing on Epic.

I pre-ordered it directly from R*. I knew it was a game I loved already from the PS4 and the 50 gold bars I got for my pre-order let me short-cut a lot of grind in RDO.

Re: Star Trek: Picard

I loved TNG back in the day but you are right, it hasn't aged all that well. DS9 was occasionally decent, but too invested in mumbo jumbo for me to really enjoy. I dipped a toe in subsequent ST waters but they always left me cold. Don't expect much of this - Picard was an aspect of TNG and without t...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 [PS4, XBone] - PC in November

Hahaha that is uncanny. I logged into RDO last night just to kick back for a while after getting in from work, figured I would do a couple of dailies, collect a set or two for the collector role and increase my cash reserves, and do a bounty or two. Popped into Valentine and visited the gunsmith - I...

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 [PS4, XBone] - PC in November

It does help you get going faster, both in SP and MP, as it gives you some guns that are key as well as a good horse in Online (which I have used from the outset). The extra mission and bounty targets are fun too. Bottom line, if you aren't bothered by spending a few quid more, do it. And when you g...

In fact, let's widen this rant to HR in general. And throw marketing in there too while we're at it.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

It was an especially poignant watch for me, as my paternal grandfather was a dispatch runner during WW1 that survived the Somme. My dad only found out by talking to other relatives, as my granddad never spoke about the war other than to say that Field Marshal Haig should have been shot for the amoun...

Your almost certainly more broken up about it than he is, I wouldn't feel so bad.
Aye I know, but I couldn't help thinking afterwards that I should have just let him get his revenge kill in the first time, to say nothing of the third slap-down headshot :)

There have been a few times I have wheeled that one out, usually when someone says they have never been more embarrassed than [occasion].

Re: Red Dead Redemption 2 [PS4, XBone] - PC in November

Hating myself at the moment. I really dislike adversarial games and was not expecting to enjoy RDR2 Online, given my brief encounter with GTA online and my hasty retreat from it. My surprise to find that almost everyone playing RDR2 online was a friendly type was a very pleasant one. I have so far l...

Re: Escape from Tarkov

Seen Lee on this loads recently whenever I have looked at Confluence, but the whole setup just doesn't appeal to me. I don't have the reactions for twitchy FPS games any more and the thought of actually losing your gear just kills it, especially given the P2W elements.
