Re: Game of Thrones S8 (Here be spoilers)

Yeah, I read elsewhere that HBO offered D&D as many episodes as they wanted for the final season but they chose themselves to wrap it up in 6. A lot of stuff surrounding the show's last season has all been a bit strange really, especially when taking into account the Star Wars connection. Feels like...

Re: The F1 thread

Mercedes don't seem to have really done a great deal, as far as I can work out, apart from make some incremental improvements here & there this season. This was a massive opportunity for Ferrari, after how they were neck and neck for much of last season, but they seem to have shot themselves in the ...

So I guess you're feeling mildly content right now?

Gotta be favourites for the final, even against a decent Ajax side.

Re: Borderlands 3

Yeah, if it looks like security issues have been mostly improved by then I'd have no problem getting it on EGS. Unless I feel it's too pricey on release & I end up waiting for it to be a bit cheaper.

Re: Borderlands 3

I haven't played a game in well over a year now, but watching that video it's given me my first little pang of interest I've had in ages. I just loved BL/BL2 - plus I'm one of those 'weirdos' who adores them as single player games. I just might re-enter the hobby for a bit and get this when it comes...

Re: Game of Thrones S8 (Here be spoilers)

Although the series has a huge budget overall, I do wonder sometimes whether on a scene-by-scene basis they're too rushed to spend enough time lighting their night-time sets properly. At least I hope that was the case; if it was intentionally unwatchable for some 'artistic' reason or something that'...

Re: The F1 thread

 The funny thing is though, Mercedes really shouldn't have got all these 1-2's so far this season. Leclerc was nailed on for a win previously before his engine played up - plus I reckon he may well have got pole here without that crash. Ferrari need to get it together basically. They absolutely...

Re: Moving Pictures

Usually SNL sketches are pretty basic fare, but they've actually put a lot of effort into this - getting those gaming tropes and NPC movements spot on.

Re: The F1 thread

Yep, felt really sorry for Leclerc. It'll come some time soon though. Another disappointing costly driver error from Vettel again; it seems he's going to have the added pressure of a quick(er?) teammate this year, as well as dealing with Hamilton. It's going to be genuinely interesting to see how he...

Re: Your Favourite Novels and Their Authors

I'm not sure about individual novels, but my favourite book series is Patrick O'Brian's Master & Commander novels. Not only is he a great storyteller in general, but the prose itself is some of the highest quality I've ever read.

Herbert's original Dune is also an absolute masterpiece.

Just looking at the trailer for that film, it looked ruddy awful. Nice paycheck for Damon though I guess.
