Re: Aaand, In Other News...

Their first two albums are stonewall classics, and that's not just a fan thing, plenty of music critics/publications over the years have put those 2 records right up there with the best. They really were absolutely huge in the 90s, on the back of some great music. Noel had used up most of his best s...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Perhaps they should have chosen TV format instead, although Fallout has probably stolen its thunder in that area (vaults, wasteland setting, etc). Not sure about the timing either, Borderlands is a distant memory for many gamers now.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I'm seeing the odd comment from people online saying while it's not great it's actually quite fun overall. Rotten Tomatoes is at 10% but the user score is just over 50%, so it might be one of those situations where a massive critical pile-on is taking place. I mean, it probably is pretty bad though....

Re: Star Wars: Outlaws

Also, I think a lot of it is just how easy and straightforward it is these days to permeate an alt-view of stuff like this. It's low-hanging fruit in the social media sphere and they know it's going to get plenty of views - plus it requires little effort or planning from a creative point of view. I ...

Re: Currently Playing

Yeah it was an interesting curio back in the day. I bought it and had some fun with it, before it all got a bit frustrating. I probably only got about halfway through it.

Re: The Witcher - The Netflix Series

I did enjoy the first season, but only now after seeing the excellent Last of Us and Fallout shows, it has rather gone down in my estimation (when it comes to game adaptations). In hindsight, it was pretty patchy.

Just be thankful you didn't get rinsed! The amounts of money some people have liberally spaffed towards this project is eye-watering.

RIP Todd. :(

Although I never played online with him, I recall the odd chat with him on here & PW over the last 20 years or so. Was always a very friendly chap.

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

It's brilliant stuff. As far as game-based TV shows go, I'd still probably put The Last of Us S1 slightly ahead of it, that has more depth and a really great narrative. More thought-provoking too. But Fallout is just so damn enjoyable it feels a bit unfair to criticise it for that. They've nailed th...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I just love how well put-together the first one is, it's been 2 or 3 years since I last saw it. It really feels like a bunch of New York university drop-outs who strike it big, the way it's filmed feels authentic. It has a really gritty, grimy aesthetic. Plus I love the dry sense of humour that runs...

Re: General Gaming News

Yeah, open world games when done right are fine, they're not to blame for anything. There's a massive demand for them, a lot of gamers prefer them to shorter, linear, story-lead games. Or at the very least want to experience them along side each other. They used to be priced very reasonably on PC too.

Re: General Gaming News

I occasionally think about dipping my toe back into gaming, but these new release prices I'm seeing on some AAA games have transformed it into a completely different proposition these days on PC. Some of these games I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, no matter how good they were, whereas 10-12 years...

* Well, two great games and one mediocre game. ¬_¬
Yeah, TR2 always was a tad overrated.

I'm thinking of giving this a go. I might wait for a few patches and updates first. I'm seeing a few reports of graphical issues affecting the gameplay, but in theory it sounds great.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are minimum painted area requirements from next season. It's not a good look at all.

I noticed some mild slowdown with ABP over the last few days on Firefox, but Youtube seems to have sped right back up this morning.
