Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I just love how well put-together the first one is, it's been 2 or 3 years since I last saw it. It really feels like a bunch of New York university drop-outs who strike it big, the way it's filmed feels authentic. It has a really gritty, grimy aesthetic. Plus I love the dry sense of humour that runs...

Re: General Gaming News

Yeah, open world games when done right are fine, they're not to blame for anything. There's a massive demand for them, a lot of gamers prefer them to shorter, linear, story-lead games. Or at the very least want to experience them along side each other. They used to be priced very reasonably on PC too.

Re: General Gaming News

I occasionally think about dipping my toe back into gaming, but these new release prices I'm seeing on some AAA games have transformed it into a completely different proposition these days on PC. Some of these games I wouldn't touch with a bargepole, no matter how good they were, whereas 10-12 years...

* Well, two great games and one mediocre game. ¬_¬
Yeah, TR2 always was a tad overrated.

I'm thinking of giving this a go. I might wait for a few patches and updates first. I'm seeing a few reports of graphical issues affecting the gameplay, but in theory it sounds great.

I wouldn't be surprised if there are minimum painted area requirements from next season. It's not a good look at all.

Re: General Gaming News

I noticed some mild slowdown with ABP over the last few days on Firefox, but Youtube seems to have sped right back up this morning.

Re: Starfield has a release date

The original Gamebryo engine was apparently very modular, so I never worked out why they couldn't just focus on redeveloping new elements one at a time. But instead they went down the path of just advancing the engine as a whole and relaunching it as Creation. To be fair Skyrim/FO4 did have key impr...

Re: The Last Of Us

Yep, it was a superb season of television. One of the best starts to a TV show I've seen in a long time. I since discovered by accident a certain plot development of Part2, which is a bit irritating as a non-gamer who wanted to go in completely fresh to season 2. I won't repeat it here obviously. Bu...

Re: Starfield has a release date

Yeah, in terms of general Bethesda-bashing, its' worth mentioning Skyrim is one of my favourite games (and most played games) of all time. So I don't agree with there being a fundamental issue with their approach to making games. 95% of the greatness in Skyrim came from everything other than the mai...

I'm just cheesed off because we could have had a TES VI by now instead. :x

Re: General Film News

Even the supposedly great Avengers movies I was starting to find too busy, ill-focused and a little tiresome tbh at the time, so any chance of me going to see any of these endless identikit variations they pump out these days are zero. Same goes for the TV shows. Although I'm maybe not the target ma...

Re: How would you best articulate feeling and dealing with 'Gamer Guilt'?

The thing with online gaming is you do need to invest a chunk of time into them each week to get the most out of them, I remember that vividly from my Countrstrike: Source days. You can't just dedicate an hour to them 3 or 4 times a week I found. I think Dave, it's obvious you don't need to justify ...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I think it's a brilliant film, and the general public reviews are all in the top echelon, unlike Tenet. But then I have no issue whatsoever with non-linear storytelling, so there's nothing holding it back for me. It's so well directed by Nolan, the way he composes scenes is beautiful to look at. It'...

Re: Tech assistance required!

If you have a multimeter, there is a way of checking the voltage throughput to see if the PSU is working fully or not. I've done it myself before when trying to work out whether it was the PSU or MOBO that's kaput (for me, it was the mobo). Sometimes when PSU's begin to fail they squeeze out enough ...

Re: Arty Antics and Similar Stuff

Even if they could have got it moving and firing, for much of the war Allies could send fighter-bomber raids at will across German front lines. It would be such a massive, slow target for Mosquitoes to get stuck into.
