Re: Game of Thrones S8

I think you're right, but I think it will directly contravene something GRR Martin has been very coy and cagey about in the past: why Dany is fireproof. In the show it's taken for granted that it's because she's a 'true' Targaryen, but there's very little to back that up other than character assump...

Re: Fallout 76

I don't think it's safe to separate developer and publisher in these sorts of conversations. iD and Bethesda are both owned by Zenimax, and are therefore at the beck and call of their corporate masters, just as with DICE and EA. Even studios with apparent creative control are succumbing to this sort...

Re: Fallout 76

I've only watched the Jimpressions video on Elder Scrolls: Blades, so my knowledge of the game is perhaps a little warped, but I'm astonished that anyone would be even remotely interested in a game where the gameplay loop involves waiting for hours at a time. Just why ? How have these sorts of thing...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 [PC, PS4, XBone]

That site appears to be getting hammered by traffic, so here's the text in full: Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the most anticipated games and last year, CD Projekt RED released an extensive gameplay video. That video was based on the E3 2018 build and according to Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz, Quest Director of...

Re: Game of Thrones S8

Not a bad episode. This season needs at least one more like it I think, as the aftermath. The character interactions have always been the highlight of this series; the battles, the weddings, the big events, they're all important too, but it's the quiet conversations that have made those events as im...

Re: Mortal Kombat 11 [PC, PS4, Switch, XBone] - April 23rd

This series really is barking, isn't it.

I'll make do with just watching all the fatalities on Youtube, as ever.

Re: Game of Thrones S8

Jon Snorrrr's lack of reaction when told of his lineage was hilarious, not even a whisper of "Oh shit I fucked my sister" Well, no, because Dany's his Aunt. Which makes it fine. Yes. In fairness, I think shock is a perfectly understandable reaction to that sort of news. Yeah, some of the deus ex ma...

Re: The travel thread

Cathedrals are one of the few parts of organised religion that I actually like, and it's a damned shame to see one of the finest examples largely destroyed.

Re: Game of Thrones S8

Yeah, I was a bit shocked to find that we were only getting six episodes to finish the series off. That really does not feel like enough time, hell, twelve would feel a little truncated. I've been saying for the last year that I'm expecting this series isn't going to have a truly satisfying conclusi...

Re: General Film News

Incidentally you may want to stop using Thrawn as an example of old canon given that he's the primary antagonist in the second half of Rebels. I don't really know the character well enough to say whether they did him justice or not (I suspect he was a very watered down version given it wasa kids' sh...

Star Wars: The Mandalorian

Probably proving once again that Dave Filoni (the guy largely responsible for both The Clone Wars and Rebels) is doing more for Star Wars than the films are, this is the first live action Star Wars series. Jon Favreau (who is a pretty big Star Wars fan, seemingly) is the showrunner, with Filoni as e...

Re: General Film News

Much as I'm excited for the new film, I can't say that has anything to do with what happened in the previous one. I pretty much gave up on this franchise giving us anything new and interesting (at least at the cinema), and I'm happily just accepting the fan service. Bringing back Palpatine could ver...

Re: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

Agreed. Something akin to Jedi Outcast would be quite well received, though given the era and theming they're going for, I'd have thought it would be more heavily weighted towards the shooting rather than the lightsaber duels. Edit: There's actually a lengthy description on the Origin store page for...

Re: Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order

Could be, but given that it's undoubtedly going to have lightsaber combat, I'd expect a TPS if it's a shooter at all. It could switch between the two as the later Jedi Knight games did.
