Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Yeah, it was probably my surprise hit of the year (maybe alongside Chernobyl). It was refreshing amid the absolute glut of superhero-related media we've had since the MCU proved how popular the theme could be.

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

The teaser for The Boys season 2 was released a few days ago. I know the first season wasn't exactly puppies and kittens, but the second looks like it's going to be really messy.

Re: Star Wars: The Mandalorian

I quite enjoyed the first three episodes, but the fourth is a really tired, done-to-death plot that does absolutely nothing new. The Seven Samurai / Magnificent Seven has been done far better even in other sci-fi shows (Firefly's was pretty good). It didn't even make a lot of sense; the big conceit ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Tasteless Christmas decorations. Unfortunately all too common. I've seen a new 'worst christmas decoration' this year; a projector (probably just a bulb behind some moving cutouts) that projects rapidly moving silhouettes of christmas trees and santa hats onto the front of a neighbour's house. The ...

It also has Nathan FillIon as a voice actor in it.
I think he's provided voice work for half the games in the series. He's a major character in 5 (complete with facial likeness), and a generic marine in 3.

Heh. I'm only technically a Yorkshireman in that I was born in Harrogate hospital. I lived in Darlington as a kid.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Heh. I was under the impression that the bulbs had some spangly expensive WiFi setup on the actual bulb that would be trashed when the bulb goes. Just seen it and they look like regular bulbs with a dongle you plonk somewhere. The bulbs do have built in wireless connectivity that you would dispose ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Asked my sister what do we do when the lightbulbs eventually blow..."Umm....I haven't thought of that!" I don't understand that as a criticism; you do the same thing you do when any other bulb blows, surely. Hue bulbs (which are LED based) are listed as having a lifespan of 15000 hours. I rec...

Re: Trump

Risin' up, straight to the top, the very tippy top. Had the guts, nobody has more guts than me, we're going to have so much glory. People keep telling me, they say President Trump we've gone the distance, Joe Biden can't even go half that distance. The distance we've gone is so huge, they can't stop...

Re: Xbox & Microsoft News/Discussion

The Switch has a near perfect UI. The home screen has a side-scrolling list of your installed games. Underneath this is your list of system apps. There's an account and settings button in the top left. That's it. I appreciate the Switch doesn't do half of what the other consoles do, but I really don...

Re: The Apprentice 2019

Usually by this point I have a clear idea of who I think will be a finalist, but I don't think I can even remember anyone's names other than Lottie. It feels like they've gotten rid of all of the big personalities really this year, and everyone else is just a non entity.

Re: Xbox & Microsoft News/Discussion

So I just got home with my shiny new One X, and boy, the interface on this thing is shockingly bad isn't it. When you're using a games console, you'd think that it would have a section for, well, games, right? Nope. As far as I can tell they just nestle among the massive amount of adverts. I really ...

So I ended up going for the XBox One X, given the lack of One S offers (so they'll undoubtedly be on sale from tomorrow).

It's going to be interesting when our generation gets to care home age, because we're so used to technology that perhaps the experience won't be so awful.
