Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
I haven't had issues with Royal Mail, but Parcelforce are the company I'm moaning about this time. I'm mostly just bitter that it's both windy and absolutely chucking it down this morning (I don't drive), but it's the only time I'll be able to go and collect the sodding thing. I do have exactly the ...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
It's the run up to christmas, which means every parcel delivery company becomes bloody useless. I've had a whole bunch of low-value packages this last couple of weeks, and while throughout the rest of the year they all get put in a safe place when I'm not in (I live in an incredibly safe neighbourho...

Re: The Last Of Us
To be expected I think with the actors strike, and I suppose if they're doing the time skip that happens between the two games, it's probably advantageous letting Ramsey age a little.

Re: Moving Pictures
I don't actually hate the look of the thing. It's extremely ugly in a traditional sense, don't get me wrong, but having been watching and playing sci-fi media for decades it's refreshing to see someone move towards that hugely impractical aesthetic. Just think of all the accidents at the Tesla facto...

Re: Starfield has a release date
That's a valid point. I largely admire what Microsoft have done with providing a lower-cost console, but it really does feel like it's holding games back already and the generation's only three years old.

Re: Starfield has a release date
Star Citizen is not an openworld rpg, which is what Starfield is and it is in that arena that I made the comment about the setting and the type of game not gelling for a mass market audience. They're different genres, but I think the fantasy they're selling is related enough to be a point of compar...

Re: Starfield has a release date
Stepping away from Starfield for a moment I think if I was to boil it down I don't think it is possible to make a massively successful openworld space RPG, the setting and the genre are not compatible. If you make it just a galaxy with say ten planets full of content it would feel small and not giv...

Re: General Gaming News
Looks good, but then there's not enough to go on to see whether the thing I disliked most about GTA 5 (the painfully obvious, crass humour) has gone.

Re: Starfield has a release date
To be honest, I don't think Starfield was worse than Skyrim, it's just that the problems are magnified by how much the experience is sliced up by the half-arsed space segments. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if they released ES6, it feels the same as Skyrim, and people don't take to it either.

The second guy sounds an awful lot like James Cromwell.

Re: General TV News
I'm a bit concerned that it's directed by the guy that did Westworld. I was really annoyed by the way that show was structured, bouncing around chronologically, and not in a way that was intended to be obvious early on. I gave up on it after the second season.

Re: VR!
Yeah, holy crap, Alyx looks incredible on this thing, and I don't remember seeing a single compression artifact. I had one or two stutters, but as they seemed to happen when I was leaning in close to something (ie: only in certain situations that I doubt were network related), it could just have bee...

Re: VR!
So the Quest just became a native Steam VR headset. https://steamcommunity.com/games/593110/announcements/detail/3823053915991825336 I've given a couple of titles a try (I haven't installed a lot of PC VR titles since my system refresh during the summer), and it's clearly better than Virtual Desktop...
