Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Yup. It's not as subtle as it would have been in TNG I don't think, they'd have undoubtedly given it more science-fiction trappings, but frankly it's an issue that I have no objection to being presented so obviously. I think all of the Topa episodes have been very effective, but the first season one...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Agreed on all counts. This is exactly what I wanted from this show, getting down in the dirt with lower-level early Rebels and Imperials (while not ignoring the bigger picture), and it's both fairly well written and lavishly produced. It's certainly up there with The Mandalorian in terms of Star War...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

My understanding is that Bladesong requires you to not be using an off-hand weapon or shield, so I guess you'd always have a focus in the hand not holding a weapon anyway. And yeah, I can see the RP opportunities for component gathering, but for expediency's sake I suspect I'll end up with a focus i...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

I'm going to adhere to requiring a focus for certain stuff in this campaign, for college of spirits stuff I will need to find a suitable focus like a skull or something which could be a fun story point. Thinking along the lines of Hamlet. If you use a skull as a focus, Opus *will* at some point ani...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Something I forgot to bring up last night and one thing I sorta did but didn't elaborate on. Are we sticking with the same rules regarding spell components that we did in the other two campaigns? What about spell focuses, as they're used to remove the component cost (unless a component has a specifi...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

I think mortal peril is a necessary part of making the game exciting, and I wouldn't want it to absent. There were fights towards the end of Dave's campaign that made me genuinely nervous (in a good way) because I wasn't convinced we were all going to make it. I don't want my character to die, sure,...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Charr used falling speed to great effect in the siege of the Unmansionable when he cast Reverse Gravity and catapulted all of our foes into the air.

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Fair enough. I wonder if I'd picked up on a house rule or something, but it seemed right considering that otherwise it's a racial feature that means Tabaxi can only climb very slightly better than humans despite them having claws to assist. I'm mostly just bitter because strength is my dump stat so ...

Re: Switch & Nintendo News/Discussion

I would have bought one of the Let's Go games were it not for the fact that they were seemingly even more simplified than the games they were based on. I loved the visuals in them, and it's part of why I almost wish they'd have stuck with the top-down view. C'mon Gamefreak, just build a selectable d...

Re: Switch & Nintendo News/Discussion

I've seen that same sentiment elsewhere, it's a shame that it's clearly been pushed out the door too early. Digital Foundry, a channel I seldom bother watching because I'm not all that interested in technical stuff, did a comparison to Legends: Arceus which isn't even a year old yet, and that perfor...

Well he's running out of employees to force into performance reviews, he's probably got more time on his hands now.
