Re: Windows 11

I've not noticed anything, and I'm running a Microsoft-branded laptop.

Re: Celebs are still dropping off....

My child... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-63019250 I know she's more famous for Nurse Ratched, but I've never seen One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Deep Space Nine was a significant part of my adolescence. Fletcher played one of the most memorable and effective villains I've eve...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Third episode of Andor is pretty good. Plenty of tension, and speeders that actually go faster than jogging pace, unlike the ones in BoBF. Also, and I really hope this is a detail that someone snuck in there without Disney noticing, but Cassian Andor carries a Bryar pistol; the weapon created origin...

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

It's quite remarkable how they just keep putting worse and worse people in charge isn't it. Given that the Tories basically absorbed the UKIP crowd, I'm assuming the veil of decency will continue getting thinner until they just decide to stick Farage in as PM to see if it works, because he's consid...

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

It's at least vaguely reassuring that even the chairman of one of the companies that ought to benefit is saying that it's not commercially sensible, assuming he's not just lying through his teeth, which is a suspicion I find difficult to shake these days in political arenas.

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

Oh, they ended the fracking ban yesterday too. My local MP stood up and asked the haunted pencil about it, as we're one of the constituencies that valiantly opposed Cuadrilla's fracking site in recent years so it's clearly important. His response was absolutely astounding. https://twitter.com/leponl...

Jesus Christ. What has been announced? - The basic rate of income tax will be cut by 1p to 19p from April 2023 - The 45p tax rate for top earners over £150,000 will be abolished, also from April next year - The level at which house-buyers begin to pay stamp duty is doubled from £125,000 to £250,000 ...

Re: D&D Interlude: The Vault of the Lady Fortune

We're scarily squishy to be fighting adult dragons, aren't we. It wouldn't have been far off my max HP until I froze myself into an ice block, and I suspect Murrik is probably on about the same amount (although I assume he can simply punch gouts of fire away from him). Gronk presumably has a little ...

Re: D&D Interlude: The Vault of the Lady Fortune

I knew Tomb of Levistus was going to come in handy at some point, but I wasn't expecting to use it on literally the first attack after taking it. It's a bit of a double-edged sword as if I don't take the full 50hp of temporary hitpoints it gives me in that one hit, I have to skip my next go. I *am* ...

I watched some of Johnny Chiodini's stream of this this afternoon, and while I was dying of contagious laughter early on, it very quickly outstayed its welcome and they ended their stream an hour early.

The second episode was much the same; it's a fairly slow burn so far. There was a problem though; I could not get past the Scottish-accented corporate security chap.
Spoiler
One of British TV's most memorable villains.

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

I actually got a distinct Blade Runner vibe from the shot of the ship leaving that first location too. I didn't dislike Cassian in Rogue One, but he certainly wasn't a character that needed a lavish backstory. If it ends up as a vehicle for showing the more interesting parts of the Star Wars underwo...

Re: Trump: Impeach is the new Orange

Gee, do you think this might have something to do with that tax return he promised he'd release after the IRS had finished auditing it? Y'know, the excuse he used for the entire term of his presidency? The funny thing is that I'm convinced he ran for President because he'd financially benefit from t...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Andor This definitely snuck up on me, I had no idea it had started today until, weirdly, I saw an ad for it during a break while watching Bake Off. I've only watched the first of the three available episodes, but I think it's started fairly well. It's very expensive looking, set as it is in heavily...

Besides the odious little arsehole being interviewed, I'm not sure what I'm meant to be looking at.
