Re: Outcast - A new beginning

As a fan of the original, I was interested in this until I saw it in action. It just looks cheap to me; the animation has no fluidity to it, and I hate that they've swapped the primitive-looking civilisation of Adelpha for a generic-looking James Cameron's Avatar high-tech-meets-lush-wilderness aest...

Re: The Absolute State Of It - It's The UK Politics Thread!

Next up; a redefinition of the term "undermine the UK's system of liberal parliamentary democracy and democratic rights" to ensure the Tories don't count. I really think it's bizarre that gerrymandering is possible in our current legal system, at least without signoff from local leaders. I had a fly...

Re: General Gaming News

There's definitely a discussion to be had on the benefits of official licenses, but I don't think EA are the right people to ask about them. We got what, 1 decent AAA Star Wars game in the ten years they had exclusive rights to one of the biggest media franchises in the world? I'm sure it probably d...

Re: General Gaming News

I've never once bought a videogame for £70, and I don't think I will anytime soon. At the absolute maximum, I'll pay £50, but that's a once in a blue moon, extremely highly regarded title like Baldurs Gate 3. If they can't make games and sell them for a profit at that price, then they just need to s...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Have they fixed the sound issue that apparently really spoiled the first for a lot of people? I think it was something to do with the dialogue mixing.

Aww. The Hairy Bikers were usually the best cooking shows on TV, and the two had such chemistry.

Re: General Gaming News

Of course. It's just so difficult to come up with gaming success in one of the most wildly successful franchises in history.

Re: General Gaming News

It's been pretty bloody difficult to be a Star Wars single-player videogame fan in the decade EA held exclusive rights to the license. It's just been promising project after promising project cancelled. Respawn did a fantastic job on Jedi Fallen Order and Survivor (and both of which have been, I thi...

Re: Currently Playing

I would walk through fire for a TIE Fighter remaster. While Dark Forces was my first experience of Star Wars, TIE Fighter was undoubtedly the best Star Wars game back then (and arguably still is the best in many respects). Same. The fans did a good job with the remaster / remake that's been release...

Re: Currently Playing

I watched a little bit of Ian Higton playing it earlier, and it looked like an incredible remaster. Faithful in all of the ways that matter but with new 4K textures and sprites (none of it looks up-resed). It's exactly what I'd want from a remaster. I'll probably pick it up at some point too because...

Re: The 'Look What the Postman Brought Me' Thread - Technology Edition

I bought the unpainted models from Imperial Terrain . They're not hugely expensive, and I think it was worth it to get a bunch of good buildings from a matching set, rather than just a load of half-decent ones that don't really look like they go together. I've spent about $50, and I've only printed ...

Re: The 'Look What the Postman Brought Me' Thread - Technology Edition

I took a quick shot of my current Legion layout with the new pieces prior to painting. The dome-shaped hut at the far end was the largest thin I ever produced from my resin printer. The tower in the middle is the one from the first post after painting. https://i.imgur.com/nAph1D9.jpeg https://i.imgu...

Re: General Film News

I saw a comment on Eurogamer suggesting that Handsome Jack was almost certainly going to be in a post-credits scene, and I can't help but agree. And yes, Starr would make a fantastic Jack, he's got just the right level of enthusiasm and menace. Was Atlas even a character? I thought it was just a cor...

Re: General Film News

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU_NKNZljoQ& Not really sure what to think of that, but I can't say I'm that enthusiastic. Given how much I loved Borderlands 2 (but liked each subsequent entry progressively less), I don't think I like how they've taken parts from the whole franchise and jammed them ...

Re: General Film News

That *could* be really good, and I guess I'm a little surprised that nobody's made a good modern-day US Civil War film (to my knowledge anyway), when it's a scenario that looked surprisingly realistic a few years back. Other than the ironic use of America the Beautiful, it doesn't look like it's ful...
