Re: Twitter, the shitshow that keeps on delivering

I had some interesting encounters on Twitter, back in the day. It was an unexpected way of being able to interact directly with celebrities - it would catch me off-guard when I'd make a little comment on some celeb's tweet, and they'd actually reply directly to me. I had several fun conversations th...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Underworld & Underworld: Evolution Should more easily be titled Underworld Parts I & II. Except for a bit of myth-building and deception at the beginning of U:E, it's a story told in two movie releases. I honestly can't find any fault of consequence with these. I've watched them over half a dozen t...

Re: Ghost Recon: Breakpoint

Hey, when Todd's new rig lands (and he stays still long enough to set it up ;) ) you just know we are back off to Bolivia or the other place for more shooty silliness :) I was just thinking about Breakpoint the other day - yes, this is one game that I definitely want to revisit on a new PC, and in ...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) via Netflix This is a brutal movie to watch, putting this out there immediately. It doesn't pull any punches with regards to the realities of WWI trench warfare, hand to hand combat, blood & guts, and so on. The camera shots linger in such a way that it is freq...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Avenue 5 Set on a spaceship luxury liner with Hugh Laurie as the captain. I never knew this existed until yesterday and it's got 2 seasons. Not watched much but it seems to be pretty good so far, cringe comedy in space is probably the best description. Starship Titanic was an influenced maybe. Star...

Re: How's this look - shopping for new desktop gaming PC

Wow, thanks for all that! I'll definitely look into this. I've never built a PC before, no, and it would be 95% gaming and hopefully future-proof for a bit, at least. I'm wanting to run STALKER 2 on full blast, hopefully they'll be able to finish the game :(

Re: How's this look - shopping for new desktop gaming PC

Would you not be better holding fire for a month or two what with the new chips out and ddr5 being a thing if you want future proofing. Plus with the new cards dropping you might get a better deal on a 30 series card. :-k I’ve been thinking about a new machine myself but I think I’m going to hold o...

Re: How's this look - shopping for new desktop gaming PC

Another quick, silly question: Is the difference between a 3080 RTX and a 3090 RTX worth $800? It's two different manufacturers, and the 3080 setup has the 2TB HD that isn't present on the comparison system, though this one's SSD is "1TB PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe solid-state drive" so seems like an upgrade ...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

The Poseidon Adventure 1972 Back in the 80's if you turned on the tv on a weekend afternoon either Zulu, The Great Escape or this was almost guaranteed to be on somewhere. I've probably seen it several times in the past but remember barely anything about the film. It's your typical 1970's disaster ...

Re: How's this look - shopping for new desktop gaming PC

My only real comment is that I wouldn't bother with a magnetic drive anymore; I'd never install any software on one. I'd honestly rather have an extra 1tb SSD than a 2tb HDD. Maybe make sure the motherboard has extra slots for additional NVME drives. I don't think a 1tb main drive is enough storage...

How's this look - shopping for new desktop gaming PC

Okay, my last desktop was an HP Omen, and it has been serving me well for the last five+ years. I'm looking at this one now, and want to ask a couple questions :) First, any particular critiques for this configuration? (Also, looks like I can get about $250 off that price if I get a brand-new but op...
