Re: VR!

That sounds absolutely brilliant, I'm well up for giving VR poker a go now. I had a play on Beat Saber at a mate's house this weekend, and expected to suck horribly at it like I do at guitar hero. I think I did ok for a first timer, managed to complete a couple songs on easy and normal, and got pret...

Re: VR!

Huh, that sounds interesting! Do you have to reach out and pick up your cards, and can you get a hint people are bluffing by the way they interact with them?

Re: The 'I Just Bought' Thread - Technology Edition

Both of those new builds are missing one important item: an M.2 NVMe drive. They're little tiny circuit-board looking things that attach directly to a port on the motherboard and use the PCIe interface instead of SATA, so they are blindingly fast, even compared to a modern SSD over SATA III. Also, t...

Who the fuck needs 11GB of video RAM? Also, why not 10, or 12? 11 seems weird…

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Yeah, whilst there were several problems with the film, I don't think that the most memorable thing Luke did was the milk scene!

Re: High Streets Woes - part II

I thought they'd gone under ages ago when our local one closed. I was in another town before Xmas and theirs was still open, which shocked me and the wife.

Not surprised they're in trouble.

Re: The 'I Just Bought' Thread - Technology Edition

Honestly, I thought Staples had gone under years ago. Maybe it was just the one in my town that closed down, but I haven't seen any others in years. I really don't like arm rests at all, so want a chair that either has detachable ones, or omits them entirely. I think I've already sat on every one th...

Re: The 'I Just Bought' Thread - Technology Edition

Does anywhere exist where I can go try out nice chairs anymore? Back in the day, Staples sold chairs and you could go try out a bunch to figure out which were comfortable. I've got a bit of a shitty back, so I need support in the right places – it's not the kind of thing you can determine from a spe...

Re: The 'I Just Bought' Thread - Technology Edition

I'm hoping to be working from home 4 days a week in the near future, I hadn't considered the fact that my home chair is fucking shit. Not keen on the looks of that one, though. Some sort of throne is probably a sensible investment…

Re: Currently Listening

My latest obsession is with a band called Ice Nine Kills (which is a reference to Ice Nine : a fictional material that appears in Kurt Vonnegut's novel Cat's Cradle). I'd heard the name kicking around a few times but ignored them since the name made them sound really shit. Turns out that all their t...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Yeah, I started watching it recently too, already through to quite late in season 2. Nice, simple fun with some undertones of serious themes now and then. I even like the Family-Guy-style cutaways, bookended with police radio static! :D
