Re: The Travel Thread

Italy is just the best place.

I've been to Rimoni, San Marino, Genoa, Sardinia and Venice (unflooded) and of the all only Venice disapointed but still managed to be fantastic off the beaten track. I like the lifestyle so much that we'd both like to move there.

Genre peaked with Torchlight 1. Wish they’d remaster it with multiplayer.
I thought that Torchlight 2 was an improvement over 1 in every way but other than that, I agree with you.

Re: Welcome to Blade Runner month !

Bladerunner is one of, if not my favourite film. I was lucky enough to see it in Leicester Square (I think) with my Dad when it was released. It's had far more influence on me than Star Wars ever did (and I loved that too). It's the Marmite of films though, so many people are bored to tears by it bu...

Yeah, the subscription buttons you can get from Amazon to quickly re-order various products baffles me. I can almost see the use case for something like laundry detergent, but it was concerning when they suggested I should get one for a bottle of whisky I'd bought. Whisky on Subscription you say? :-k

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Yes, I'm as guilty of it as anyone else. To be fair, occasionally there are technological innovations which seem promising, but which don't take off, so some reservation can be wise. However, my criticism is when people dismiss things out of hand without really looking into the reasons why the tech...

Re: Moving Pictures

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKxOywaoUKo I've had this video stuck in my head for the past 24 hours, trying to work out what Jobs meant. Honestly, I still prefer the aesthetics and functionality of Microsoft to anything Apple has ever created. I guess that means I'm a tasteless pedestrian. I thi...

Re: The Outer Worlds - PC, PS4, X1, Switch 2019

I'm really enjoying this so far. The intro sections wierdly reminded me of the original Unreal opening levels for some reason. Although the game is compared with Fallout 4 - in the Unreal engine, everything feels much more solid albeit contrainted (no bunny hopping up the side of cliffs for you). Gu...

Was going to say I was tempted to pick up Game Pass for PC for a month or two to play this, but apparently it requires Windows 10 to play games via the service.

So that's out then.
Not a fan of Windows 10?

Re: Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker - the last film in the saga

After going and seeing the Force Awakens I skipped the cinema release of The Last Jedi and watched on Blu Ray/Sky/Pirate Vision. I can't remember much about it other than it was tedious an overlong. The amount of focus that the films get - ripped to shreds for various reasons, casting, plot etc. is ...

It'll be on pc/xbox gamepass so I'll play this one. I do agree it looks waaay out of date though, no way I'd buy at full price.

They probably won't forget this one for a while.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

I have a triumvirate of neighbours, living on the corner of a V-shaped street. Two are very nice, the third is a collective of Satan's arse detritus. They have two kids, who do nothing except squeal at pitches that make dogs whine and bats implode. The kids spend all their lives in their back garde...

Thomas Cook died this morning. I thought (in my ignorance) that you meant the company founder or something like that, but it actually is the travel company. Feel for the thousands of people trapped abroad: https://www.theguardian.com/business/live/2019/sep/23/thomas-cook-travel-chaos-insolvency-lea...
