Re: The Covid-19 Thread

The thing is that it has the chance to mutate forever now (for better or worse) as it won't be eradicated. Every winter we'll probably have a wave after immunity wanes or it has significantly mutated again. We're possibly back on a very steep decline of this wave now, with basically no restrictions....

Re: The Covid-19 Thread

What is the other option? There is no chance of eradicating it now, the only time that was going to happen was 2 years ago.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

I've had that a couple of times due to wax build up. It's SO satisfying when they clear your ears out. You then feel like you have some sort of god-like hearing because your brain hasn't adjusted yet, so everything sounds very loud and it feels like you hear every little thing. The nurse that did it...

Re: Newsie PC. Can I get a TGA assist?

You can get a decent enough 2 TB one for £150. Obviously way more expensive than a HDD but I was trying to remove as many sources of noise as I could!

Re: Newsie PC. Can I get a TGA assist?

I already have a 1tb ssd all good to go. Objection! These days, you'll want to at least boot up from an M.2 drive. They're bonkers fast compared with SATA SSDs. Testing different games hasn't shown huge differences, but I haven't looked at the data since before the PS5 came out — game engines were ...

Re: Battlefield 6

I doubt that they would make the entire game f2p. I reckon they might just make the 'main' game f2p but leave Portal to the people who paid. Not sure the other way round would make sense for selling cosmetics etc.

Re: Weight Loss and Health Thread!

Nice one Raid! My weight has completely plateaued over the holidays, hopefully it will go down again soon. I have a friend who works for Huel so I get some freebies. I have to say that I really don't like anything that I've tried from there. The pea protein really leaves an aftertaste in some ...

Re: Battlefield 6

There is a 64 player mode for conquest and rush, although it is annoyingly a 'timed' thing so it is only temporary. I really don't see them getting rid of specialists and bringing back classes for this game. Although you can do that in portal to some extent as it's just the old classes from each game.

Re: Battlefield 6

So I got this for Christmas and... I am actually quite enjoying it in general. I've played about 36 hours now, and I'm still having fun. I'd say that's more 'stupid fun' rather than refined fun that earlier entries have been. There are a lot of problems though - stuff like not being able to change s...

Re: New PC time, which one?

Looks great! I much prefer solid colour builds (either a nice white or a matte black in particular) to shitty RGB ones. Very classy.

Re: Battlefield 6

Was it that long? Didn't think it had been. Will get my coat :D Yeah, I think covid hasn't helped with the timeline! There is usually just a couple of years between the BF games, although it does vary. Here are the main ones that released on PC: BF1942 : 2002 BF: Vietnam : 2004 BF2 : 2005 BF2142 : ...

Re: Battlefield 6

I don't play them so am not really qualified to comment, but I wonder if they aren't firing them out too often. Given the amount people have to invest in getting gear, levels etc, I wonder if there is not a degree of burnout from constantly resetting progress for the next in the series? Of course t...

Re: Battlefield 6

Damn, that sucks. I am still playing a lot of BFV at the moment, maybe I'll end up sticking with that. I think if BFV didn't have the silly cosmetics and allowed you to make larger squads (and had a few more maps on a different front, maybe) I think it would probably be up there with BF2, which is m...

Re: Battlefield 6

I was going to ask about this game - are any of you still playing it? I held off and will probably end up being given it for Christmas, so hopefully it will be relatively bug-free by then. I don't like how they keep talking about making stuff that will add to the 'narrative'. It's a BF game, who giv...

Re: Weight Loss and Health Thread!

1500 is super low! Is it difficult to maintain that? I know when I was counting calories, I basically just stuck to 1800-2000 (2-400 below my BMR) to slowly lose weight. As for weighing every day - I know it can be easy to obsess over the small changes, but I like to see the ups and downs in the dat...
