Re: Ukraine

I'd also say poorly educated conscripts with shit equipment don't cost a huge amount. Isn't that what he just said? I do feel for some of these Russian soldiers though. I know people will say they could just not fight, but there has to be people in this army, don't want to be in the army, nee...

Re: Ukraine

Thr Russian army is huge because the cost of building it is so low. Russia gets "hard" currency for all its gas exports from which then converts into roubles and pays its soldiers peanuts. Hence a huge army that costs a fraction to run. And presumably the longer (I read this, unsure it's true) Saud...

Re: Football

So Spurs sack their manager again when we're still in the top half of the table, Levy lost patience with the losses again but who's out there that can integrate with the team? Maybe Ryan Mason will be caretaker again whilst they're looking for someone. We'll be fine but maybe there won't be Europea...

Re: Ukraine

It seems entirely mad that a country with an economy the size of Spain's, ill-trained and equipped, can exact the power they currently have. I said earlier (heard it here first etc.) I wonder if Putin is ill again. There were rumours 18 months ago or so that he was going to step down because he was ...

Re: Currently Playing

Not sure this counts as a 'current playing', more of a 'going to play'. Decided to try and replay games I didn't have the patience for first time round. First up is X3: Reunion . I remember being so excited to play it first time round and racking my brains, I'm unsure I even got further than install...

This one has a couple of interesting spins on the formula:

I played this a few times. It's too much like a game for me (does that even make sense?!).

Amy Winehouse.

What could've been. Has there been anybody even halfway comparable since?

Re: Ukraine

Looks like Putin is pushing ahead with an invasion. The goal is regime change, but it is going to be bloody. The US right will wet themselves with glee and blame Biden, cause that is all they've got. Things are going to be messy for quite a while. It's quite scary really because it'll usher in a ne...

For those who like their numbers, there's also Nerdle.

I think it's arguably a little easier to get in less than the sanctioned number of goes but it take a little longer.

I love it - I'm more focused on keeping my streak going so I often try a completely new word around go 3/4 to use some letters. Which I think is considered amateur etiquette.

Re: Xbox & Microsoft News/Discussion

I realise this is such a variable question and a bit silly to ask, but roughly what's the going rate to repair an Xbox controller? The left button on mine only works sometimes. Which for some games is fine (I almost never use the Xbox), but I bought Hitman 2 over Christmas and, since it's the run bu...

Re: The Covid-19 Thread

Had the chest infection I mentioned in the Xmas thread, took it out of me. Problem is of course the symptoms are nye on Omicron. The flow tests all came back negative but you still have to wonder. Imagine getting whammed and covid'd in the same year, might well have been me. I was exactly the same....

Happy Christmas Folks.

I tend to only drop in every year (ish) or so, but over the years you've been a great support for me. So get fat and fucking drunk, because that's what I'm going to do.

Re: The Covid-19 Thread

Had my booster today. From getting out of the car to back in was probably five minutes. Incredibly efficient. EDIT: Jesus the reaction from this one wasn't far off the first one. Didn't kick in until the middle of the night. Thank God I had most of my Christmas shopping to go out and do, took my mi...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

I hadn't even seen The Karate Kid before I started with Cobra Kai, although I decided very quickly that I probably ought to. I think the series holds up well enough on its own, but I got more out of it having watched the film. Without the benefit of nostalgia I thought the film was very average, I ...
