Re: Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker - the last film in the saga

Now that this is "available", I've finally watched it. I didn't hate it, but I didn't enjoy it, that's for sure. I think maybe I'm just... apathetic? By the half way point I was mostly just checking Twitter and the news on my phone because I didn't really care what was going on. I don't really have ...

Re: The Covid-19 thread

The university has been shut until at least the 15th of April (probably longer) and there's a limit to what I can do from home so whilst I should probably work for a couple more weeks, I'm then on paid leave until I'm allowed back. \:D/

Re: The Covid-19 thread

I had a similar experience the other day - our nearest big Sainsbury's was completely out of pasta except for the wholewheat varieties which still had quite a few packs left. They're not even more expensive, just healthier!

Re: The Covid-19 thread

I've had a cough for about five days now and a very mild but irritating headache that comes and goes too so I'm working from home as much as I can, though I'll probably have to go into work on Thursday. No fever though, so probably just related to hayfever season kicking off, but better to be cautio...

Re: CD Projekt RED confirms that its next triple-A title will be a game set in The Witcher universe

There's definitely scope for the character to be chosen from several "factions": Witcher. Nuf Sed. Soldier of Nilfgaard/Redania - classic melee fighter class Sorceress of The Lodge - Mage-like Given how each would be responded to by different people in the game, there could be a lot of gameplay in j...

Re: CD Projekt RED confirms that its next triple-A title will be a game set in The Witcher universe

They only said it would be set in the same world, not that it would follow any of the characters in particular. I'd be absolutely fine with being able to create my own character and follow whatever stories and plot they create completely apart from what's come before. The world has plenty of potenti...

Re: The Covid-19 thread

All the academic papers I've read suggest that it's almost certainly from a bat originally, with pangolin being the next most likely culprit, but it's a 99.8% match for bat.

Re: The Covid-19 thread

Well Life is like a box of chocolates. When do you think they shut schools - end of next week ? As I said you can shut down everything for 1 week, 2 weeks, but this fucker is not simply going to magic itself away. A new reality is coming our way for 2020 until a vaccine is found or until the virus ...

Re: The Covid-19 thread

I can do half of my job from home much more easily than in the office, but the other half of the role involves using/running an air-gapped computing facility and I don't think my superiors have really thought it through when they've suggested working from home on Wednesday "to see how it goes". I've...

Re: The Covid-19 thread

So you can be re-infected sooner? In theory, you should build immunity by getting it just like standard flu until it mutates. If you get it early you really have more chance of being able to get any care before the system starts to feel the strain. There have already been several cases of re-infect...

Re: The Travel Thread

We're off to Greece on Thursday and barring any substantial change in the situation will still be going. Only supposed to be there until Sunday but I feel like I might pack a few extra pair of clothes just in case we get stuck somewhere.
