Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

I've seen the first episode of Rings of Power and I'm really struggling to know what to think of it. I guess I'll see how the story develops. The problem I have is almost all the performances seem pretty off to me. Nothing 'rings' true at all. A-ha. I'm not concerned about all that stuff regarding w...

Re: Why Can't I find any enjoyment in Cyberpunk 2077?

I agree sly about Human Revolution, that was a lovely new iteration of Deus Ex. If you put aside the weird crappy boss fights, that was bordering on a classic game.

I think I still have Origins on my Steam wishlist. I've never played an Assassin's Creed game.

Re: Hello and welcome!

Thanks Nat, fantastic seeing you also dude. Holy shit, it's Dave! Glad you're still doing okay mate. (btw I was 'katarn' previously. I haven't forgotten our old Borderlands sessions and Steam chats from back in the day. :D ). I haven't been around so much recently, my life has been pretty hectic. I...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

I mentioned it in another thread recently, but the director's cut transforms the film. I think it's really good personally. No film is perfect, but compared to almost all of Scott's other films over the last 20 years, this one really holds up I thought. I don't really understand how/why he allowed t...

Re: General TV News

That's okay, we can agree to disagree. I think it's great for new fantasy IP's to be as diverse as possible while still allowing creative adaptations of established works to be true to the original vision, without any risk of outrage. The two can coexist together without any problem. There's such a ...

Re: General TV News

There is, and please correct me if I'm wrong but I did try to look this up, not a single black actor visible on screen during the Lord of the Rings film trilogy (a Maori actor played the Witch King, but you don't see his face). That was one of the biggest media phenomena of the era, and I don't thi...

Re: General TV News

Also, has Scott made anything that wasn’t shite in 20 years other than the Martian? The director's cut of Kingdom of Heaven is a superb film. Better than the Martian IMO. But yeah, apart from those two films (and one or two others which were... okay) there's been an awful lot of disappointing nonse...

Re: Arty Antics and Similar Stuff

Loads of amateur gaming devs these days paying for artists to do the game artwork. I forget now, but there are some online portals for game artists to put themselves up for hire. Although it helps if you're a fast drawer, since I'm not sure the rates are always brilliant.

For me, Mad Max 2 Road Warrior beats it hands down. One of my favourite films of the 80s.

Re: Ukraine

It's possible they'll end up annexing a chunk, like they did with Crimea. A chunk big enough to be a show of strength but small enough to prevent major retaliation. Long term, NATO needs to obviously get its member nations to stop relying on Russian gas, but something tells me that won't happen. The...

They should really point that out in that little instructions link on the page. It's catching a lot of people out I think.

It's a bit of an oversight.

Makes appreciate how good first law was by following it up with Artemis by Andy Weir. What a annoying bag of shite. 100 years in the future our main character is a Star Trek fan girl that’s a genius and is also super sexy and mildly promiscuous. Even though it’s100 years in the future she sure only...

Re: The Witcher - The Netflix Series

I adored season 1, I don't think they could have made a better introductory televised portrayal.

But yeah I think they've lost their way a bit here. Almost all S1 episodes were simply great fun individually, regardless of the story arc going on. They've lost some of that fun factor.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Red Heat's not his best but I still find it enjoyable enough to give it a 6/10. I mean, Commando is just as 'bad' if you try to analyse it, but it just has a higher quota of ridiculous cheesy memorable moments, not because it has a better script, better acting or anything. There's just something abo...

I feel Leone elevated everything from the Dollars trilogy to go on and make his true masterpiece, Once Upon a Time in the West. It's my most watched western by far.
