Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Oh it only gets better; season one is the lowest rated of the series. I had trouble with some of the Belter dialogue, but I absolutely love that they're given their own creole. It really makes them feel like a separate people, which is a key part of the story, and it's just another brilliant bit of...

Re: The Witcher - The Netflix Series

It’s frequently quite boring should be the box quote. If I didn’t have an existing interest in the Witcher world already I’d say it was quite shit unfortunately. Starting to reach that conclusion, yeah. I feel a bit sorry for Henry Cavill - he's passionate about the franchise and nails the characte...

Re: The Witcher - The Netflix Series

Watched 5 of 8 episodes, and I'm starting to reach the conclusion I'm not liking this as much as I should in theory. Cavill is great, but beyond him I'm increasingly frustrated how little of the material from the books they're actually using. 10%, maybe? It's not like there isn't much source materia...

Re: Currently Playing

If nothing else Game Pass is wonderful for saving money on not buying shite games. This 100% and then some. I was a horror for snapping up games, whether a bargain in a sale or a title I liked the look of. I now pay £7 per month and since I have started doing that I have bought Horizon Zero Dawn, D...

Say one thing for the first law trilogy, say it was an entertaining read.
You have to be realistic.

Re: Currently Playing

Finally finished AC Odyssey. Took me 80 hours, and there's still a vast number of side quests I didn't do - I reached a point around level 50 where I just wanted to complete the main story. It's very good, probably my favourite AC game. The move to a more RPG-style system suits it, I think - and I c...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

The Expanse This is, I'm pretty confident in saying, my favourite TV series of all time. The fact that it's now over honestly saddens me a bit, because I can't imagine another series that so perfectly matches my preferences will come along any time soon. I've never seen another science fiction show...

Re: Everyone seen it....except you

I think Breakfast Club is worth a watch, mostly because it's unintentionally(?) hilarious in places, like when they smoke weed and go nuts, culminating in Emilio Estevez destroying a plate glass window through the power of shouting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6szavWtZ4P8  Plus it's one of ...

Re: Microsoft buy Activision Blizzard for $70bn

market cap is $38 billion Microsoft will not make any more acquisitions now. Their intention was to win market share, not take over the entire space. Also EA Play is already on GamePass, so acquiring EA would be a mute point I try not to do this too much, but seeing as it's a personal bugbear of mi...

Re: Everyone seen it....except you

Casablanca I'd argue this is essential viewing. It's a masterfully told story with some of the best dialogue in all cinema. It becomes even more powerful when you realise that it was made in 1942, and the characters' struggles against the Nazis in the film were reality for the actors, with victory ...
