Re: Currently Reading

I just can't get invested in a story that will almost certainly have no ending.

Shameless. It's not like he even needs the money, just pure greed. Do some work if you want money, you bastard!

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. That's a little harsh don't you think. How so? They paid some sketchy fuck an obscene amount of money to ride his terrifying cobbled-together death trap. It was inevitable. Yes, loss of life is always sad, but it's like if someone died doing 400mph on a public ...

Re: General TV News

I know it's something they would have preferred not to have to do, but despite appreciating the gag element of it, I have to say I think Solar Opposites' attempt to replace Roiland is... not good. That is a weird choice. Hoping R&M go down the soundalike route instead... I'd have expected the "haha...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

It's definitely enjoy the art not the artist these days. Yeah, but I have no choice but to draw the line at Ian Watkins' of Lostprophets. The songs capture a particular time for me and I'd love to have a good nostalgia listen, but I just can't shake the ICK hearing him sing about love and stuff. Sc...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

On the last bit, I disagree. There’s a voice actor guy who does such a good version that Roiland himself said it was scarily close. But also, given the nature of the show they could easily have the voice change explained in-universe or just go meta like Iron Man did when Rhodey changed actor and sai...

Not to brag or anything, but I recently moved into an apartment complex here that has two large 50m pools and a few smaller ones.
Wow! Where abouts is that? Bear in mind I don't even know what country you're in!

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Shit, thanks for the heads-up, I had no idea! Would have been a good idea to put "part 1" in the title, not sure where it was announced but I've not seen that anywhere.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

One of these years I'm going to cave and buy an overpriced air con unit that I don't have room for. My parents got me one as a birthday present years ago, and the same unit is still going strong. We've not busted it out of its cupboard just yet, but it is an absolute godsend when you need it. Noisy...

Oh, it's possible, certainly, but the overheads for streaming services (most of which are already desperately cost-cutting) mean that only headline films will get that treatment.

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

My TV’s panel was about the best you could buy for films at the time (and still isn’t far off the best 2 years later) and it cost me £1200. My 4k player cost £180. I could buy the same setup for my bedroom and still have a grand or so to spare compared to Apple’s VR. I mean… sure, but that's a mass...

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

I'm also not convinced that watching a movie on it will look better than a high quality TV playing a 4K disc, which can be achieved for a fraction of the cost. With over 4K per eye, I wonder if the brain will see that as better than 4K, or just the same. Either way, I can't see it being worse than ...

Re: Aaand, In Other News...

Each eye sees a higher resolution than a 4K screen, the pixels are miniscule . They said each pixel is 7.5 microns wide (human hair is about 70, red blood cells 8), and followed up with the fact that they crammed 64 pixels in the space of a single iPhone "retina' pixel. I'll wait until I see it but ...
