Weight Loss and Health Thread!

Solitaire mentioned starting a weight loss/motivational post in the Room 101 thread, so maybe it's a good time to make a new one. I originally posted this in Sly's blog, but realised it's probably better to do it here instead. How is it going with your diabetes etc., Sly? Like I said in the other th...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Great job, guys! I'm finding that I have to urge myself to make good decisions on a daily basis. I've fallen into some very bad habits after the divorce then the awful, ridiculous relationship I had afterwards :( I'm starting to tackle these issues, one by one, and let me tell you it's tough to cha...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

1 kg a week is great! That's a good rate to lose weight, not too quick. I guess keeping the habit afterwards is the hard part. I'm also losing weight atm. Currently about 105 kg (6ft 3, so should be <95 kg really) and aiming to be 102 kg before christmas at least. I've lost weight before so I have a...

Tbh I wouldn't factor in exercise calories into weight loss calorie counting at all unless you are doing something like running a marathon. The estimates are always awful and very dependent on a lot of different things.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Just a quick note: I'm pretty sure the shields are for stopping fast projectiles. Paul has to learn a fighting style that has a slower strike so it can get through personal shields. If a lasgun (laser) hits a shield it causes an atomic-style explosion (in the books at least, not seen the film yet).

Re: Back 4 Blood

Sounds like tonight or Friday in that case, either is fine for me. Do you need to do any prep in L4D2 before jumping into a campaign, like choosing loadouts etc? Nah it's a much more 'pure' game than B4B. You just jump in as one of 4 characters, all of whom play identically. No loadouts, you pick u...

Re: New TV Recommendation

As long as you're not using them as a monitor/constantly watching news on them, it's not really something to worry about. Especially if you are playing a variety of things/watching films etc. The HDR is perfect too, each pixel is a 'dimming zone'

Re: New TV Recommendation

If you want to go for OLED LG is probably the best bet, despite your misgivings about them.

Re: Back 4 Blood

I have L4D2 and used to play it with some of you back in the day, so if you ever need a 4th person I'd be up for it.

Re: Back 4 Blood

As to Neth, he is indeed still around - now named 2ChannelWonder on here. He tried to hook up with me for a L4D session a while back but I was hooked up with some couple of mates and sadly didn't have a spot free. Definitely up for some B4B with Neth and any others who want a blast - Neth was one o...

Re: Back 4 Blood

Thanks guys, that's useful. It sounds like something I'd probably pick up for £20-£30 instead of full price, assuming I had people to play with.

So what do you guys think of this game, then? How does it compare to L4D?

Re: Battlefield 6

The fact that I've not even bothered to watch this trailer really demonstrates how much the beta put me off this game. It completely destroyed my interest in it for the time being. I reckon I might look into it again when it actually comes out to see how dodgy it is, but I suspect it still will be a...

Re: Battlefield 6

For me 1942 was the pinnacle, soooo many hours sunk on that game. I dunno if you've gone back to it, but for me it doesn't really hold up as well almost 20 years later. I think that the pinnacle of that era was BF2 - it added all of the features that enhanced teamplay even further, the maps and veh...
