Re: Daily forum quiz thread

It'd be nice to have someone who can finish last each month instead of me.

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

John Wick 2 I'm very late to the party with John Wick, having only watched the first film last year. I'm not sure what I expected from the second film, but it was essentially the first film again. Keanu goes shopping; kills everyone. The end. Looking forward to the third. 6/10 Tucker and Dale vs Ev...

Re: The Room 102 thread - for things you love or just having a bloody good praise!

This made me chuckle, from the sheer audacity of it. My niece (14) was briefly excited about the possibility of a school trip to Costa Rica, which had been proposed in a presentation to the students by some starter business. I get the impression it had an insipid "Hey gang!" energy to it. Naturally ...

Re: Baldur's Gate 3: developed by Larian Studios

Haha, mine didn't play out quite like that (the character that ran away in yours decided to make an ill-fated last stand against me), but pretty similar. I let them go in the hope that they'll come back at some later date for a more climatic stand-off, where perhaps I'll be able to do some more glo...

Re: Baldur's Gate 3: developed by Larian Studios

I'm about halfway through act 2 on my Dark Urge run and while I was prepared for things to get unhinged, I wasn't quite prepared for the complete derailment it's just led me down. Not sure if these are warlock-specific spoilers, but I'm both delighted and horrified at the results. I entered ac...

Re: General Gaming News

Weird that they haven’t shown any of the actual RPG mechanics of it. It took me a while to warm to the Outer Worlds, but I did eventually, and so I’m hopeful that this will be decent. I’m not expecting a masterpiece, just a good solid RPG.

My attention meter for this game just went from 3 to 10. Looks very promising.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

Fucking Amazon. Was listening out for a delivery, saw that I was the next stop on the tracker map, saw the van drive by the window, watched the tracker dot go past me on the map. Then watched the status change to delivered. I went outside and checked behind bins, etc, to make sure I wasn't going mad...

Re: Currently Playing

Just bought Sovereign Syndicate, which I've had on my wishlist for a while, and I saw that the Steam store page is playing our very own resident Boring Dad's playthrough! :o Nice work, Sly!

Re: Currently Playing

the reason I don't get on with that genre is the need for split-second parries I almost never parry in those games because of the split-second timing. There are much easier ways to play - parrying is a huge gamble if you don't know precisely what you're doing. Funnily enough, the only Soulsbourne g...

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Eddie the Eagle No surprises here, but there doesn’t need to be - it delivers thoroughly on being a feel-good, properly funny sports underdog film in a similar vein to Cool Runnings (incidentally, the Jamaican bobsled team competed at the same Winter Olympics as Eddie, in 1988). Great performances ...

Re: Suicide Squad: Kill the Rocksteady Legacy

From the look of it, the only fun to be had is playing bingo with game design don'ts. So far I've got overblown UI clutter, limp physics, brainless enemies, impactless weapons, constant wisecracks that aren't wise or especially cracky and an art style that's somehow both lurid and dull as dishwater....

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

As promised, here's a summary of the info dump from Yvalna's notes: Yvalna the Bright had grave concerns about Aldus’s decision to join the Nightwind Agency. She believes they are mere pawns in a much more sinister plot, which she has dedicated a lot of time to investigating through research and div...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan

I've not used Jira, but until a couple of years ago we had our own in-house software for dev management which was about as bad as I can imagine it could be. Admin is the worst part of development and this thing made dev admin a constant battle to get anything done. We ditched it in favour of DevOps,...
