Re: General TV News

I really hope that's not the main metric they use, because they cancelled Cowboy Bebop only three weeks after they published it. What were the chances of many people having watched ten hour-long episodes in three weeks?

Re: I Just Watched (Films)

Crank I'd forgotten what 2000s action films were like. I suspect half the nouns in this were replaced with the word "shit". Took me a little while to give up on any pretence on enjoying it for the craft and just enjoying it for the stupidity. It looks like it's trying to be a bit "arty" with the ci...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Bards don't have to prepare spells in the same way that Wizards do. You just have access to every spell you know. The preparation thing is to balance Wizards because not only do we learn two new ones every time we level up, but we can copy spells that we find out in the world into our spellbooks for...

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

I think I'd actually mucked up by doing just that; I realised that I didn't need to have Find Familiar prepared a while back and forgot to replace it with something. I don't think I actually gained an extra Prepared slot for level 2.

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

Yeah, that's the issue I think with level 1 not giving you access to your subclass. I doubt a great many parties stay at level 1 for very long, and you suddenly need to explain why, in some cases, you suddenly have quite a different playstyle. I figure it's to stop people multi-classing into an extr...

Re: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2

As far as I'm aware we're still getting it Day 1 on Gamepass. I reckon I'll probably end up at least trying it on release, and if I think it's going to be a good co-op game (it's rare that I think shooters wouldn't be) I'll hold off on playing much of it.

Are you both missing the x10 part or have I misunderstood? I got 70.

Re: Currently Playing

The stuff in Disgaea is mostly played for laughs as you get further into the game, so the character you describe gets ridiculed a lot and it is meant to be subverting anime tropes in that it is a women who is trying to do that not a man. Fair enough. I think it's pretty likely that I overreacted to...

It’s like coming home from holiday to find your house is on fire and then deciding to re-pave the driveway.
An ideal metaphor as the UK clearly has the cowboys in at the moment.

I'm good with either, but happy to stick with an 8pm start if it's better for Alan.

Re: Currently Playing

I suspect you've got me beat on anime-game creepiness, but one of the very first prompts that I got when it finally gave me control of a character some 15 minutes in was to dress the affection enthusiast in a bunny costume.

Re: D&D Campaign 2: D&D Harder

As am I, though I know next to nothing about Pathfinder beyond the brief stint I had with Wrath of the Righteous.

Incidentally were we planning on starting the new campaign this week?

Re: Currently Playing

So my new Steam Deck has been well used over the last week, and for the first time in years I've actually been spending time perusing the Steam sale to find stuff for it. Final Fantasy V: Pixel Remaster - I started this when it was released at the end of 2021, decided it was probably the best remast...

How was it Dave? I'm interested to hear thoughts on it, although maybe stick them in the review thread unlike me posting that WW84 one in the wrong place. ;)

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series

Star Trek: Prodigy I ended up watching this after this year's season of Lower Decks finished, and it's not bad at all considering it's very obviously aimed at a younger audience. It's seemingly gone down pretty well with other long-term Star Trek fans too. The main character is the standard wisecra...
