Re: Daily forum quiz thread
Only two questions wrong today, and both were about Mormonism, so I don't feel too annoyed.

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
This is a religious thing, isn’t it? ;) Mostly. My ire against individual celebrities such as Fry and Gervais is, yes, but I also generally dislike the British-TV-celebrity-comedian-led-culture. We never watched TV growing up, and one thing I noticed from the age of 4 (as soon as I started school) ...

Re: Good TV (aka, the TV series spamthread), the second series
So, Vikings season 6. I watched the first episode last night. Looks like more of the same stuff since the general change of direction at season 4. More characters moping about, unsure what their purpose is, spouting half-baked philosophical musings while, generally speaking, nothing actually happens...

This may sound daft, but I feel like the UK has this sort of "cultural establishment" of arrogant comedians of various ages who have morphed from mere tellers of jokes into authority figures of "how people should think".

Re: The H.P. Lovecraft Reading Club
So, The Dunwich Horror . Overall, I really love this story. I think it might even be my favourite mythos tale! A very creepy, very local horror, yet with massive global implications, with an exciting build-up and a heavy sprinkling of occult science and magic. I also love the monster in this. I find...

Stephen Fry is also pretty high up there on my list.

Re: The H.P. Lovecraft Reading Club
If I am correct, this is where Yog Sothoth is first really described as one of the Elder Gods. The Case of Charles Dexter Ward (which I doubt we'll read, as it's fairly long, and -- controversially -- I find it quite tedious ¬_¬) is where the mysterious Yog-Sothoth makes his debut appearance. Howev...

Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
Celebrity comedians. People like Ricky Gervais, Russell Brand et al, and how they seem to transform over the course of a couple of decades from "people who tell jokes on TV" to "experts on everything" who seem to weigh in on debates about any subject, appear as special guests on almost any TV show -...

I don't like comedy, except incidental comedy -- i.e. well-written witty dialogue -- but I don't like things that set out to be comedic.

Re: The Hobbies and Model-Making Thread
I was looking at them last night and decided I am going to try and salvage them. I don't think I need to strip them; I'll just paint over the bits I messed up.
