There's something about putting it all together and then pressing that power button for the first time to see it whirl into life that I find very satisfying.

Yeah that is always a risk. My last build had a DoA GPU and I spent ages thinking I'd done something wrong when it just needed RMAing. Since then whenever I've built PCs for friends I've learned to put the whole thing together outside of the case first just to make sure it all works.

Guess which berk forgot to check the cpu cooler height before buying it. Bloody hell.

Amazon Prime now have some AIO liquid blocks, so they're delivering one later tonight. It does mean the pc is less one flexing eagle though.

Edit - since the nvidia 2080 reveal my card has jumped in price by 50 quid from the same retailer. Glad I didn't wait.

I'd have waited before buying a new card personally. Nvidia are releasing the next generation of 11x0 cards within the next month or so and that always causes prices to drop for the older models.

I've always taken the stance of "fuck it, just buy whenever" with pc bits. There's never a good time for it.

I just did a big upgrade as well, my old tower could hardly even play wow so I treated myself to an Alienware R4 laptop when they had a 25% off sale on (I just don't have the room for a tower any more), I also just got a Acer Predator XB271HUb. I've now just started to play through games I'd missed from the last five years.

I've not seen anything that about them releasing it in the next month - where did you hear that? I've only seen speculation.

Well that took forever. It's very shiny to the point it's hard to get a photo of it.



I really dig naff rgb lights so no apologies for this. Its not as bright as this makes out.
