Now they’re proper speakers! Quality audio is worth every penny. I’d have to decorate them to look like the towers of Orthanc and Barad-dur from LOTR though.

I've been known to buy games based solely on their soundtracks (basically anything from Supergiant). I'm really looking forward to Hades coming to XBox next month; even though I own it on PC, it always felt like a great couch and gamepad game (I did in fact hold off on buying it for ages because I wanted it for console), and the soundtrack is superb. I'm tempted to try replaying Bastion too.

I own Hunt Showdown on 3 platforms because every time I hear that theme music I just want to throw money at them even though I’ve barely touched the game.

Good show on the setup though, soundbars are gash! ;)

Got a new shark hoover this morning. Had a gtech that conked out, so used a crappy Hoover hoover that I got for free but it started to get on my wick.

The new one is quite nice, although I have some reservations about the wheels but damn this thing is so much better than the Hoover at, well doing its actual job really. The Asthmatic in me is happy today.

I just bought one of these

…and I’m so impressed with it. The stability, the range, the speed, the responsiveness and the battery life are all way beyond what I ever expected from something the size of about 4 non-max iPhones stacked. I’ve noticed I do this incredibly stupid thing where if I fly it up, it’s size and relatively quiet sound make it basically vanish and for a split second I think “oh shit I’ve lot it” completely blanking on the fact I have a bloody video feed from the thing in my hands! I’ve had that moment of slight panic three times already! Senility comes quick to some of us!

I should probably take the safety stickers off it eh? :-k

Modern DJI stuff is really impressive isn't it. Have you got the thing registered with the government yet? I haven't flown my Mavic Air since they introduced the need and wasn't sure how long a process it was.

Mini 2 (and mini) comes in at 1g under the requirement for registration. Crafty dji, t’s almost like they planned it that way. I guess the government figured under 250g are just toys but this ain’t no toy!

Ok this is so a toy but it’sa very nice toy.

Installed today. Replaced my old GTX 970. Tested using World War Z on Ultra which was a slideshow with the 970. It ran as smooth as a hot knife through butter.

This card will do me for 5 years 8-)

I did have to install MSI Afterbuner and brought down the temp which was idle at 55c which felt a little high to me. Brought it down to 42c via increased fan speed but even with increased speed its pretty damn quiet.

That's the card I'm holding out for, how much did you snag it for?

Overclockers

£469

£382 card
£78 VAT
£8 shipping and a "free" bag of sweets Overclockers ships with every order

£382 is a superb price given the market today, just really got stung by that VAT

The card is about 60% the length of the 970. Its magic I tell you.

That's not too bad at all. I've blown the budget on a puppy for the time being, but will keep an eye on things.

Those puppies really struggle with the Ray Tracing though.

Had a peep at OcUK, only in-stock 3060 Ti is £799! £469 is a steal, no?!

It's a steal for current prices, yeah. The card was originally around £400. I ended up snagging a 3070 a few months back for £600 and still felt a bit guilty, although I have been vindicated since then.

My old Xbox controller snuffed it yesterday after many years faithful service so I decided to treat myself to one of the newer wireless models. Cue endless disconnections and unplayable games.

Looking online I found a USB dongle that MS would happily sell me to cure my woes, for a breezy £21. Not likely. Thankfully more looking online found someone mentioning that they had an aerial with their mobo which while advertised as being for wifi also boosts the mobo bluetooth. A little digging around in the mobo box (I knew I was right to hoard all my parts boxes) finds a little shark-fin aerial which I connected to the PC and hey presto, razor sharp connection with no dropouts.

Technology. Both great and a ballache at the same time.
