Shifting OS to New SSD For Dummies?

Post by Lenny Solidus » Sun Feb 19, 2023 11:32 pm

So Amazon have ended up selling a full 1TB Samsung SSD's for just £59.99 (-29%) I thought it about high time to finally move my operating system from my older SSHD hybrid drive to a straight-up SSD. Having looked over many tutorials of how to do this however I was hoping for a few initial pointers from those with more hands-on experience.

That 1TB Samsung SSD if anyone else is in need of one...

It's easy peasy mate. Many new ssd's these days come with free migration software and instructions.

I had a similar problem last year and cloned my drive successfully with free Macrium Reflect. I remember I had to do something manually in the program, so cloned it twice in the end before it stuck, but it works without further problems.

Yeah, Samsung's Data Migration tool moved my whole drive across to the new SSD in about 10 minutes and was really easy to use.
