Scene II: Horsehead Ranch

[Mantis]

"Any of these boys the men we're looking for?"

They ain't. They ain't even Loudmouths, or Clowns.

Assuming that the Kid provides that affirmation, Roach simply says.

"Huh, well that's a damn shame.."

And unloads both barrels of his shotgun into the closest varmint.

[Sly Boots]

Doc cautiously approaches the chimney once again, hearing everything below go quiet.

"Anyone alive down there?" he asks querelously.

There is only silence.

I was hoping one of my companions might provide an update so I can get down off this ****ing roof

[Wrathbone]

I'll blast whoever's left.

No-one can hear you where you are.


All right, so, the three guys who just ran into the main entrance hall (who you have now all shot dead); those were the three guys who ran away from the room Doc just called down the chimney into.

There is still one guy alive on the other side of the "first door on the left" who just surrendered after he saw his buddy get shot through the door by Cumflutter's rifle.

[Wrathbone]

I stand in the doorway and point my revolver straight at his head.

“Where’re the Loudmouth bosses holed up? And where’s the safe? Start talkin’ or start dyin’.”

[Sly Boots]

"Someone down there say something?"

[Animalmother]

Cumflutter rests the still warm barrel of his rifle on fellows shoulder. He carefully carves four notches on the rifle stock without breaking eye contact. The acrid smell of piss fills the room.

[Stormbringer]

The Doc is talking down the chimney to an empty room. The three men in the room he overheard ran out of the room, trying to escape from the 'Sheriff', only to find themselves shot dead by Roach and Cadaver Kid when they entered the entrance hall.

I stand in the doorway and point my revolver straight at his head.

“Where’re the Loudmouth bosses holed up? And where’s the safe? Start talkin’ or start dyin’.”

The man is sweatin' and lookin' real scared-like.

"Tantrum Tammy's holed up somewhere nearby...right over there..."

He points somewhere to the south-west.

"She's shoutin' up a helluva rage, sir! The rest o' the Loudmouths cleared right out when the Rodeo Clowns showed up! They took most of this damn buildin'! I don't know where the Loudmouth safe is, mister! Me and my buddies...we's bounty hunter's, see...we overheard some drunken Loudmouth punks talkin' in a saloon in Palace...heard 'em say they was holed up here in the old Horsehead...and...well, we's broke...so we thought we'd come see if we could make some cash by collectin' them bounties...little we did know we'd walked right into a turf war between these two gangs! Clowns to the left of us, Loudmouths to the right...and here we are...stuck right in the middle with you!"

By the way, the room Cadaver Kid and Cumflutter are now in (where lies the dead man Cumflutter shot through the door, and where they're currently grilling the survivor) turns out is the TOILET.



It stinks in here. There's two latrines, two sinks (one of them has clean water in it, the other is full of blood). There's a cabinet above the sinks with a broken mirror.

There's also two metal bathtubs: one is rusty and filled with dirty water. The other is filled with (from the smell of it) some dark and highly alcoholic liquor.

"Shall we fill canteens with fresh water and bottles with spirits gentlemen?"

Roach will just shout up the chimney and hope Doc hears.

"It's alright now good Doctor, we have the situation under control but there's still some rascals stowed away in here somewhere more likely than not. You might as well come down and join us"

[Stormbringer]

Doc is standing at a different chimney.

I’ll search the bounty hunter for anything valuable or noteworthy.

“Bounty hunting, huh? Doesn’t seem to have worked out so well for ya. Maybe you oughtta find yerself some other line of work. Now I’ve already had one Loudmouth scumbag git away from me and shoot up my handcuffs today. You know how hard it is to get a good pair of handcuffs round these parts? They were issued by the county! Anyways, point is, if I tell you to pick a direction and walk offa this ranch until dawn, you ain’t gonna try anything stupid, right? Because as I said, I’m in a REAL bad mood, and I’d hate to let any other tomfoolery influence my trigger finger.”

[Stormbringer]

I’ll search the bounty hunter for anything valuable or noteworthy.

He has on his person a rusty razor and a rusty revolver, neither of which seems in very good condition.

Also upon his person you find a self-help bible. This doesn't appear to have helped him much.

"No, sir! I'll sure as hell walk away as far as you tell me! And I'll look for some honest work, yes sir!"

[Wrathbone]

I’ll let him keep his gun and razor, but I’ll make sure to relieve him of ammo.

“Apologies about yer friend. What with the clowns and the Loudmouths, I’m sure you can appreciate we thought you was trouble. No hard feelings.”

Then I’ll take him to the exterior door and make sure he walks a good distance away.
