Re: Frontier Scum, Scene V: The Mayor's House
Seeing you quietly step back out of the kitchen, the bear, with a final warning snarl, is content to leave you be, and resume its rummaging of the mayor's food supplies.
My fire is more than can be made with forests,
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.

If I'm not mistaken we should be pretty close to the broken windows leading into the drawing room? Doc will creep over and have a peer inside.

Re: Frontier Scum, Scene V: The Mayor's House
Doc looks in through the broken windows of the drawing room. The furniture's all gone, and apparently the room's been converted into an explosives workshop or lab, or perhaps just a storage room for the chemicals, judging by the crates of Aqua Fortis (Nitric Acid) that have been stacked in here.
One of the crates has fallen over, having spilled its dangerous contents: the floor is covered with dozens of broken bottles and huge puddles of bubbling, smoking acid! You could get across, but it would require some careful footwork...
There's a set of double-doors at the south wall of the room, which you know leads to the entrance hall. There's a door on the eastern wall, which you know leads into the kitchen (where the bear is) and there's a door on the western wall, which you know leads to the sitting room, where the fireplace is.

We could call out for anyone inside to exit immediately because the lab's on fire (or very shortly about to be)...

A chance for Doc to make some flashbangs and grenades from those ingredients can't be wasted.
Re: Frontier Scum, Scene V: The Mayor's House
Happy to try that but I'd need to empty out this luck potion first, probably better if one of you chaps just drinks it - maybe CK as I think his luck is currently -1?

Ah yes, but as CK is currently DRUNK, his Luck is (at the moment), 2.

I also heartily advise against trying to bottle the contents of this room...

As Partridge would say, it'll take your face off.
Re: Frontier Scum, Scene V: The Mayor's House
Acid should be ok in a glass bottle though? And thinking of it as more of a throwable grenade type thing than a potential potion...Stormbringer wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 10:23 amI also heartily advise against trying to bottle the contents of this room...

Re: Frontier Scum, Scene V: The Mayor's House
Thinking about it, presumably there's unbroken bottles of acid in these boxes, maybe anyone who has a spare slot should grab one? Could be useful...
Incidentally, looks like Doc is overburdened. Unless anyone wants it I think he's going to drop his ancient tablet dog-spell.

Not that any of our characters are chemists, but this is what google returned:Sly Boots wrote: ↑Thu Jun 12, 2025 10:27 amAcid should be ok in a glass bottle though? CK is going to stand well back.Nitric acid is a strong acid that is often stored in glass, though certain precautions are needed. While it can be stored in glass, it's important to note that concentrated nitric acid is not stable and can decompose, particularly when exposed to light or heat, leading to the formation of nitrogen dioxide (brown fumes).

Actually, did we ever learn if our bikes have any saddle-bags or carry capacity?
