Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
I should have made you play the chicken instead of rolling up a new character...
My fire is more than can be made with forests,
My state more base than are the basest valleys;
I wish no evenings more to see, each evening;
Shamed, I hate myself in sight of mountains,
And stop mine ears, lest I grow mad with music.

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
Just remembered I haven't got any abilities assigned yet for my new, non-chicken, character.

Yeah, haven't got around to that yet... I will throw out some suggestions later this evening once the kids are in bed.

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
...24 hours later...
1. HUSTLED BY ANOTHER SCUM
How about...you can make a 2d20 WITS test to see through an NPC's deception? If they're lyin' to ya, you're likely to know.
2. BET YOUR LIFE AND LOST
How about...you roll 2d20 when you make a Death Check?
3. DUG YOUR OWN GRAVE
Yeah, let's say if you use a two-handed melee weapon, you get to roll 2d20 on GRIT.

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
Now that we've completed an adventure, I'll post this to give you an idea of the layout of the game-world.

Palace, as you can see, is the western-most outpost of human settlement, bordering inhospitable 'Arizonian' desert, while Covett City is the peak of industrialised urbanity (something 'New York-esque'). Stubbshead County is vaguely 'New Englandy', Carcass Country is vaguely 'Louisianan' and Dreckgullard's Desolation is more or less 'Alaska'...

Just to highlight for Mantis in case it gets a bit lost in the other thread, but I donated 20s to him for extra equipment.

Thanks, I've slipped that into his character sheet.

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
Putting this here for reference...
The layout of Palace, DB:
1. The only gateway in and out of the city is to the centre-south.
2. The Purple Belt Saloon is just two blocks north of the city gate.
3. The Gunsmith is two blocks east of the Purple Belt.
4. There's some civilian houses, two blocks west of the Purple Belt.
5. The sheriff's office is two blocks north of the Purple Belt.
6. The blacksmith is two blocks west of the former sheriff's office.
7. There's more civilian houses, two blocks east of the sheriff's office.
8. The mayor's house (which you broke into just the other day) is two blocks north of the sheriff's office.
9. The general store is two blocks west of the mayor's house.
10. There's another saloon, of a far less reputable quality than the Purple Belt...the Drunk Chicken...two blocks east of the mayor's house.

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
For the Incorporation steam tank, I imagine it looks like a Case 150 road locomotive:
But travelling backwards, covered in box-shaped armour, with a rotating howitzer turret on top.

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
If you had to pick an actor in a Western to model your character after, who would you?
Cumflutter has suggested he's Tim Roth from The Hateful Eight.
For some reason I'm picturing Cadaver Kid as Kurt Russell in Tombstone (but maybe I'm wrong?)
What about Scrancher and Doc?

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
I think Kurt Russell is the closest match, but with a dash of the hard, reckless edges of Clint Eastwood.

If I'm honest when I picture Cumflutter I'm seeing something like a more degenerate Calvin Candie..Stormbringer wrote: ↑Tue Jun 10, 2025 9:16 pmIf you had to pick an actor in a Western to model your character after, who would you?

Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
I feel like Tim Roth's character in Hateful Eight is a pretty good match up for Scrancher at least in terms of how well spoken he is.
Re: Frontier Scum: General Chat
Definitely Val Kilmer's Doc Holliday for Doc
