I've been having a blast watching a new (to me) D&D campaign series. I don't know if anyone here knows Viva La Dirt League, but as they've got 4m+ subs I'm guessing most people have come across at least a few of their sketches. Anyway, this series has them playing D&D as their characters from their RPG skit series, and it's brilliant. It's not just funny, the DM is fantastic as well - having watched a bunch of episodes now I'd actually put him alongside the great Chiodini.

It gets better the longer it goes on, so many running jokes, from the artificer's useless inventions, Bob's cursed dice rolls and method of disposing of enemies...

Anyway, enjoy: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... TZiU4rhCQA

I think you'll be fine once we level up a little as the dice rolls for damage don't increment as much as you will be getting HP bumps. Those first few Blood Hunter levels are perilous though.

I'm not so bad against the mobs because my AC is decent with my Dex (19), but it's those bosses with big attack modifiers that also hit like trucks... I've come close a couple of times already.

Yeah, I always suspected it would be a rough start and hopefully another couple of levels will help with the survivability... although it's some comfort that my self-harm mechanic didn't make any difference in the end to whether I survived that hit

Hah. I may have started thinking what character I might roll as a replacement when I was downed a few weeks back. I'm ridiculously squishy, I think I'd be surprised if something actually missed me unless I burn a spell slot for shield.

Also, yay for finally having something I can do as a bonus action. Flaming sphere isn't the best damage in the world but it's nice to be able to get a little extra in on a turn where I have to escape.

I’ll try and intersperse some less brutal encounters in between the life-threatening ones. The confrontation with Short Sal had to be dangerous, though, given that everything so far has led up to it.

I actually quite like the mortal peril, it's nice to have to make choices as to whether to disengage or risk a strike. I never had to do it much with Charr because he was surprisingly tanky considering he had draconic resilience and bracers of defence really early on, and could shield his AC up to be higher than Truss'.

Oh, absolutely, it felt like at least a semi-climactic encounter for this initial chapter (possible Aldous fight notwithstanding!)

Yep it feels like the mystery is pretty much solved and we've built up to a climax for the current story arc. The boss was suitably perilous and challenging.

And all within the confines of the law without any regime change. I'm proud of us.

I'm still not convinced the Baroness doesn't have some idea of what's going on. There's time for us to depose her yet.
