Everyone good for tomorrow? May be a slightly shorter game as I need to be up early on Friday.

I have to say I feel mightily guilty for pointing out the concentration thing, I thought you'd just decide to do something else rather than dropping Haste.

It's probably something I should have noticed a while ago to be fair. I thought it seemed like quite a strong combo to use those two spells together but I swear when I first checked the details of shadow blade it hadn't got the part about requiring concentration so I totally missed it.

I'm going to need to find a +1 melee weapon asap then because my rapier is pretty meagre at the moment even with the extra attacks.

I don't know what the actual rules say, but in the 5e videogames I've played (eg BG3, Solasta), it definitely works that the second concentration spell you cast supercedes the first, so Dharnon would have still been exhausted after losing haste, but would have successfully cast his shadow blade and had advantage on those subsequent attacks.

Not something I'd considered but I worked on the basis that I dropped haste with the intention of casting something else and then lost the rest of the turn so didn't cast shadow blade at all. So whilst I didn't get the benefit of the spell next turn I also didn't lose a spell slot.

I assumed Mantis would choose to do something else instead rather than doing something that made him miss his turn.

The exhaustion thing is the reason I didn't pick up Haste. I'd considered taking it for a support spell, but didn't want to risk someone else losing their turn because *I* got hit and dropped concentration.

What if instead of Shadow Blade being a concentration spell, it required a DC10 concentration save at the end of each turn to maintain it? That way it doesn’t completely wreck the build but it still has some limitations.

Yeah that seems like a good compromise for it.
