I had a text last night about 9:30 from Amazon. I can't remember the wording but it was something about 'do you authorise this thing' with a link.
I obviously assumed this was a scam and didn't click on anything. I was having a meal with friends so thought I'd check later.
I get home about midnight and thought I'd go straight to my amazon account to check.... I have no account anymore! My email isn't registered as having an account.
Straight to customer services to have a chat... and I need an account to talk to them. I created an account using my same older email, which it did with no qualms but it's like a brand new account. No history etc.
I'm panicking as I have saved credit cards on the account so I've cancelled it.
I'm currently waiting for Amazon to email me as the chat person said they'd escalated it to another department, but they quit the chat before I could ask what department...
I then suddenly got signed out of my youtube account - authenticated and back in.
I've just had an email from Facebook to say I need to re authenticate myself on my next login (now done)
I've added a few more 2FA to some accounts just in case.
Someone is really trying hard with my email... so at the moment it's just Amazon that's fucked.
Pretty scary

Re: I think i've been 'hacked'
If you haven’t already, I’d do a deep virus and malware scan of all your devices where you’ve accessed Amazon or your email. I’d imagine sorting out Amazon shouldn’t be too hard when you finally get through to someone, as presumably you’ll have previous emails from them where you can prove who you are with past purchases.
Scary indeed!

That sounds like a big headache, I hope you can get things back on track.
Another important point with 2FA, is don't keep your previous password.

And after a week of constant ringing and moaning, they sorted it. Got everything back. As far as I can tell nothing was spent/ordered/reviewed etc.
New passwords, 2 fa etc all setup.
Phew.
It surprised me how much I use Amazon for everyday things...

Re: I think i've been 'hacked'
If you don't already have one, might be time to get a password manager like 1Password, Dashlane, Bitwarden, etc. You can even put your 2FA tokens in there if it's a standard TOTP one, but that might be too many eggs in one basket.
Re: I think i've been 'hacked'
Well, this has come back. I must have missed an Instagram account (I never use it) as that got disabled for posting content outside their guidelines.
Due to that my Facebook account has been suspended.
Due to that my Meta account has been suspended (the one with all my Quest 3 games on it).
The process is absolute pish.
1. If you try logging into FB or Meta you get directed to the Instagram account saying you must sort it out.
2. The only option in instagram is to lodge an appeal. - the appeal will obviously fail as whatever was posted was probably outside guidelines.
3. The appeal asked for some of my details to prove it's me. They then took 5 minutes to come back saying we reviewed it and the Insta account is now permanently disabled.
4. That's it. No access to any of those account and no way to appeal/contact support.
After a lot of googling there may be a way in but it means creating a new account and paying for Verified status. This may unlock a support chat function.
I thought Amazon was bad but at least they had a chat support.....
Absolutely fucked off with Meta/Facebook.
