There’s a weird praising of Trump from both sides of the media. “He has achieved something remarkable, from air strikes to peace in a few days” as if Iran had any other option. He essentially ran in after a fight and kicked them in the gut as they lay on the floor then boasting that he’s the reason they aren’t fighting anymore. Iran can’t stand up to Israel while Israel is also fighting another war, who honestly thought they would stand up to Israel and America?

Did anyone else catch that North Korea announced they’d gladly join Iran in the war effort and nobody paid any attention whatsoever? I’m not sure Iran even acknowledged it.

The irony being that all this is because of his pathological hatred for a black man who is his better in every way. He ripped up an agreement because Obama had his name on it, an agreement that Iran was fully compliant with, and here we fucking are. Despite Trump pulling the US out of the Iran nuclear deal, is there any evidence that Iran has actually violated it since then?

They were actually still observing it long after his withdrawal, as a sort of act of faith. Of course, the US has a history of walking all over treaties; the irony is that Iran could be considered more trustworthy than the USA at this point.

I was going to say the US pulling out of the treaty is immaterial if Iran are still observing it (given that it's still upheld by the UK and other European countries, as far as I know), but I suppose it gave Israel the tenuous excuse to cry wolf again.

What it demonstrates to me more than anything is that international law means fuck all now. Everyone is doing whatever they think they can get away with, led and enabled by Trump. How long before China decides this is their opportunistic moment to take Taiwan, before the US gets their chip labs up and running to full speed, and while the rulebook is being torn to shreds?

Obliterating Israel's ability to wage war would probably be the greatest effort to world peace since the end of WW2. Imagine if they stopped being obnoxious dickheads and tried getting on with their neighbours.

Removing people like Netanyahu from power and public influence is the only way they'll stop being dickheads. The sad fact is that if Israel did not have its military capabilities, they'd be gone in a blink. The other sad fact is that Netanyahu is a warmonger and a genocidal maniac who has nothing but contempt for Palestine and has been gunning for Iran for decades.

I'd like to say that a strong and diplomatic Israel under the leadership of a reasonable person would lead to stability, but the last two years have condemned the region to another generation of feuding. It will never end.
