The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
Moving out of houses/flats.
Everything takes longer than you expect, no bags are ever big enough, stains appear that weren't there in the weeks leading up to move out day. Utter joke.

It's a massive pain in the arse. I've moved far too much in my life, I think, at times. Each time, I say "Never again". Never happens.

Yeah likewise - 5 times since 2018. Luckily I'm a fairly light traveller (perhaps necessarily!) but everything just seems to go wrong. The mop bucket snapping while wringing the mop, running out of cloths, knocking drinks over that you've never done before...The list just seemed to go on and on.arqueturus wrote: ↑Sat Apr 03, 2021 9:21 amIt's a massive pain in the arse. Or another moan actually - why are the tags on zips you use to pull zips on holdalls so flimsy?
EDIT: 6 times actually.

Why have you moved so many times in the last 3 years?

I was the same when we rented for awhile, we got moved on everytime the home owners came back.
So much easier once you own again...

York -> Sunderland (End of Masters)
Sunderland -> Edinburgh (Start of job)
Edinburgh -> Edinburgh (6m tenancy - they sold the flat)
Edinburgh -> Edinburgh (6m tenancy - was always meant to be)
Edinburgh -> Sunderland (Flatmate bought a flat and I didn't want to fuck on with finding someone else given I'd paid for it to be vacant for 10 months)
Five times, not six. Still.
Re: The Room 101 thread - for things you hate or just having a bloody good moan
I suppose I'm most surprised that someone would willingly move to Sunderland twice.

Sheeeeeit. Have you finished your job in Edinburgh then?Tommy wrote: ↑Sun Apr 04, 2021 3:53 pmYork -> Sunderland (End of Masters)

Spoken like a man who has never been to (certain parts of) Sunderland!
Nah, I'm working from home until we're required back in the office, saving a little bit of money since the flat was sitting vacant anyway. I'm estimating we won't be required back until towards the end of the year and even then, it'll not be a cliff-edge date.
I prefer being in the office, but if I have to wait a little longer and can save the pointless, extortionate rent for a few months then I'll take that!

Self service tomatoes.
If memory serves;
In Asda they are a fruit.
In Morrison’s they are a vegetable.
In Tesco and Sainsbury’s they’re a “salad”.

Am I odd for having zero interest in doing Zoom calls with friends and family? I've only done it the once and hated the experience of it. Think it might be the needless video bit, I know what they all look like. Maybe I'm just antisocial

I've not really had any video calls with friends, the wife much more so. But then, I'm regularly playing games with my friends who are dotted around the country, so we're on voice comms for that, no need to arrange a separate "social" call. We get drunk and talk shit like in the pub, but with games to keep us entertained. Good times.
I do miss the pub and my more local friends though, had two of them round last weekend when we were allowed to have folk in the garden. Lit a BBQ to keep us warm as the evening progressed, ended up smelling like a furnace!
