Get well soon AM and MM, I have a feeling we'll all be right where you are soon enough.

I've had a cough for about five days now and a very mild but irritating headache that comes and goes too so I'm working from home as much as I can, though I'll probably have to go into work on Thursday. No fever though, so probably just related to hayfever season kicking off, but better to be cautious I guess.

Get well soon everyone (whether it's Corona, Flu or just a cold) and keep us informed on what's going on :)

Hope your feeling better soon MM, that sounds like a nasty dose. Vitamin C all the way mate, grease up a lemon and insert it up your chuff if needs be. I prefer chewable tablets though...

Chewable tablets up the chuff? That'll sting, give me suppositories anytime.

the problem is that even with a regular bog standard cold everyone thinks they have got it

I like the fact the panic buying has induced mass crowds - the very thing people want to stock up to avoid. A contradiction or what !

I feel sorry for fat people, they might actually lose weight

In my infinite wisdom I waited until I'd run out of pasta and rice before going to buy more like I normally do. Naturally everywhere I go the entire shelf is ransacked for both.

And just to add to the comedy of panic buying, the big Sainsbury's I've just been to had a similar situation with the tea bags. People are literally panic buying tea.

The scariest thing I think about this entire scenario is that this isn't even a super life threatening bug or disaster. If people are reacting like this now can you imagine what would happen if we faced a really catastrophic outbreak of something or another natural disaster? Society would completely eat itself.

Jesus was wrong. Turns out it's the preppers who will inherit the Earth. The meek will get shoved aside as people rush to grab the last rat in the supermarket.

Well it would have to eat something, given that there's no pasta or rice.

Or local university has ceased teaching, the bank I work for has already temporarily closed one branch in the nearby area, and our business team has mentioned that a lot of small businesses are already making requests for overdrafts to see them through.

We're likely not even remotely close to the worst part of this crisis and already we're shutting down as a country.

We've not really seen any rioting over it yet, which feels like it's on the cards. If (when?) critical infastructure or supply chains take a hit, things could get messy.

I was in Asda Dunfermline last night and all the pasta was gone except the lasagna sheets which were untouched. People would rather starve than cook the difficult pasta.
