Re: Ukraine
The Ukrianians should thank the Chinese somewhat. If Xi actually requested Putin wait until the Olympics (which no one watched
) was over, the snow melted into mud - slowing the advance.

are you like me - I cannot focus on anything or have any enthusiasm.
In the next 3 weeks he will pulverize Ukraine, but the bigger question is - will he attack a NATO country?

Re: Ukraine
If that's what the Ukrainians have done to his army imagine what the Polish or Romanian ones with full NATO support would do. As someone mentioned earlier there was apparently plans to move on Moldova next but Lukashenko comically gave that game away.

Saw that earlier, and her expression says it all! "well that's us both dead then..."

Re: Ukraine
Live stream of a nuclear power plant being hit by active shelling. Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant to be exact.
Station's spokesman Andriy Tuz:"Attenition! Equipment of the Russian Federation is firing on Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant. There is a real threat of nuclear danger at Europe's largest nuclear power plant. We demand to stop the fire from heavy machinery on the Zaporizhzhya NPP power unit." - posted 01:10
"As a result of shelling there's a fire at the Nuclear Plant. I repeat: as a result of shelling by Russian Army towards Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant there is a fire" - posted 01:35
"The fire at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant continues. Firefighters cannot reach the scene of the fire and eliminate the consequences. They are shot. There is already a hit in the first power unit. Stop it!" - posted 02:13

Re: Ukraine
So, we have young conscripts, poorly led, poorly served. Soviet-era machinery dumped, sacrificed and broken down....captured Chernobyl, and artillery strikes at other nuclear sites and indiscriminate bombing. Is that rat purposely baiting the West into getting involved?

Re: Ukraine
this sound weird but if I were the Ukrianian defender I would surrender the plant to the Russians to prevent a fucking warzone near it

I can't pretend to know a lot about nuclear reactor operations, but I suspect that abandoning one isn't really an option.Achtung Englander wrote: ↑Fri Mar 04, 2022 12:51 pmthis sound weird but if I were the Ukrianian defender I would surrender the plant to the Russians to prevent a fucking warzone near it
Re: Ukraine
The biggest saving grace is that NPPs are built to withstand the worst that can usually be expected, so are very resilient... the fire was minor in the scheme of things, even so, maintenance and cooling regimes need to be kept up with. Regardless of how well built, cooling is the biggest weakness.

Re: Ukraine
Apparently the Russian's are blaming the Ukrainians for Russian soldiers attacking the powerplant. Putin says he has no ill intentions towards his neighbors but they better stop defending themselves and if a journalist calls it an invasion they can get 15 years in prison or 5 in a labour camp. How do you reason with that fucking insanity..
Re: Ukraine
You don't have to look far in researching Putin's psychology and past life to find why he is so resistant to the world and his own country, in particular, finding out the truth about "certain things"...

Re: Ukraine
How exactly would they manage that anyway? Seems like a zero chance thing from the start.
