Not much in terms of protecting the self employed or non-social housing renters though. So if you've got a private landlord who still wants his £800 per month and your self employment business has just dried up you better try and find a way to make that £94 sick pay you're now entitled to stretch big time.

Not sure they need to close cinemas. Our local Vue is usually so empty that it’s one of the safest places to be at the moment.

Quite a few cinema chains elected to close of their own volition a couple of days ago already anyway.

There will be travel restrictions in place by Monday I reckon.

Just noticed the Daily Mail leading headline on their website being their usual responsible self with "FAREWELL TO FUN". #-o

When the other option is "Farewell to life" I'll take that thanks DM.

Over here in America, in the county I live only 6 cases confirmed but schools have already been shut for the next two weeks.im expecting it to be extended.

I've been self isolating with just my family the last week though, I have asthma and the wife has diabetes and my parents are in their late 60s, we check off too many boxes to mess around with catching and spreading this thing in my family's bubble.

I have read this could lead to Spanish flu levels of death around the world and it's really not something to mess around with.

Brother in law works in a hospital and he said a 33 yr old patient went from 90% lung capacity to 30% in the matter of hours and was being helicoptered somewhere else for more intensive care.

Also my cousins brother in law went to hospital and was sent home with "flu like symptoms" and died later that day. I did not know him directly but it's currently the closest death to me I know of from it.

We have started having everything delivered. I luckily live in the same town as an Amazon fulfilment center and multiple grocery delivery services. I leave everything outside for first 24 hours and then spray/wipe down the contents with Clorox.

Maybe I'm being paranoid, or maybe I'm being smart about it. Only time will tell.

Also I just picked up the animal crossing for switch. The wife and I are enjoying it immensely

Sounds like you're just being prudent to me considering how high risk yourself and those close to you are. Hope you stay safe mate.

If we're talking about percentages, Spanish Flu is estimated to have killed as much as 5% of the world's population. That would mean 350million deaths with today's population.

I saw a fairly worrying comment on Reddit; the UK is on almost the exact same trajectory as Italy was, just with a 14 day delay:

If that's accurate, I'll be amazed if we don't have similar government-mandated curfews.

if you think there is a run on shops now....

It will not be long until the army is called out and a soldier outside every supermarket

If the big problem with supermarkets is that they've got produce in stock but can't distribute it fast enough, I don't understand why the government aren't drafting in the army to help out with stacking shelves, transporting goods, performing deliveries, etc. I know the supermarkets are hiring a tonne of people, but the current reality is that the waiting time for delivery slots is about 3 weeks.

The government has just announced that 1.5million people with specific conditions or vulnerabilities will be getting letters telling them they must self isolate from tuesday. There are apparently plans in place to ensure that they receive parcels containing supplies and medication.

Received this text from a friend, feel like I should I pass it along:

Yvonne who is assistant director of Nursing at QE has said they've had a message today that virus seems to be spreading quickly via petrol pumps so they advise to wae gloves when filling up or use a paper towel and bin straight away. Can you please pass this around anyone you know. Could make a huge difference

On a slightly lighter note, all the barber/hairdressers are closed. By the time this is over we'll all look like 70's pictures of our dads

wear gloves all the time and do not touch your face.

When I am going out I am wearing gloves. Its going to be tough in summer but needs must. I don't care how stupid I look.

People today were out and about as if it was some sort of glorified bank holiday. Either they don't get it or they don't care ](*,)

If it was not for the fact I have a 6 year old and a partner who has to go to school to look after the children of key workers, I would only venture out to get food and only when the shops are about to close. I do not think I will drink milk again in a long time as every shop has none. Even bread.

Forget about booking a shop online - its dead. Ocado, Tesco and Morrisons have no slots - not one. We have gone through the looking glass guys. We are now in a new reality. Its fucking Mad Max time. Supermarkets are getting stripped in less than an hour of opening.

The army is coming out. I give it a week.

I did wonder that. I can't decide whether it'd be worse to grow it out (which I did when I was 17 and it was monstrous) or attempt to hack away at it with some clippers.
